mdy14
I have been bidding on a 4* in the French quarter zone for almost a week now, trying to stay around $100, and went up to $113 so far, with absolutely no success. Any suggestions?? Do I try and go down to a 3.5* and is there a big difference in quality? This is my 1st time booking a hotel through priceline. Any suggestions would be helpful! I have a meeting at the Hilton Riverside that week so I am trying to stay close yet get a good touristic visit while I'm there since it will be my 1st visit to New Orleans. Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding! If you haven't yet, please start by reading your messages.Using MAPS and HOTELS.com what is the best rate you're able to find for a 4* hotel in the French Quarter zone?If you look at PRICELINE's map and zone boundaries, would a nearby zone such as 'Downtown' also work for your needs? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. tigersbh
We stay in the downtown zone more than the FQ zone. It's usually cheaper and everything is still within walking distance. And a 3 star isn't bad quality, just not as luxurious. The Holiday Inns are 3-star hotels, for example. You can also save money on parking by using a parking garage on O'Keefe. They have a big lighted sign that says overnight parking is $15, whereas a hotel charges $25-30. Of course O'Keefe may or may not be close to your hotel. Link to comment
mdy14
Would a hotel in downtown district be within reasonable walking distance to the hilton riverside hotel? and what about 10 french quarters? looking for a 3.5 to 4 star hotel. Thx again! Oh and if you hear of any other events that week that would explain why I seem to be bidding more than a lot of others for french quarters. Link to comment

crito
Would a hotel in downtown district be within reasonable walking distance to the hilton riverside hotel? The Hilton Riverside is actually on the border between the Downtown and Convention Center-Arts-Warehouse regions for Priceline. (I have stayed there, but on a convention rate not a PRICELINE or HOTWIRE win.)Any of those districts would have a bunch of hotels that are an easy walk from the Hilton Riverside, but I believe some hotels in each region would be as much as a mile. The French Quarter seems much riskier than the others, in fact, if your aim is to be within, say, a mile of the Hilton Riverside. To be safer, you might try HOTWIRE instead of PRICELINE. mdy14
Yes this is the same as my Priceline thread. I have had no luck upto 130 + 10 bonus cash on Priceline bidding. This hotel looks good on Hotwire for 143 plus it's a 4.5 star. Dates 2/27-3/3 Link to comment
thereuare
Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread. The 4.5* property above matches previous reports for the Le Pavillon so that would be my best guess for this one. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help.
