Tom Goes Usa Posted February 3, 2013 Report Share Posted February 3, 2013 Hi,Till today I never heard about Priceline and/or Hotwire.I read a lot today and we are pretty sure to use Priceline.We (2 persons) want to go to New York City in September (09/16 till 09/21).We would like a hotel (minimum 2,5 stars) in the center of New York and we have a budget of 850 dollars (with taxes included!).Do you guys think it is possible? If yes, when is best to start bidding?And how much would you bid per day?Thanks in advance :lol: Link to comment
AaronJB Posted February 3, 2013 Report Share Posted February 3, 2013 Welcome to Betterbidding.$850 w/taxes and fees included makes for a bid of around $136-138 per night (a $140 bid is $860 and change w/taxes and fees.) Unfortunately, this is one of the busier times of the year in NYC and rates traditionally are higher during this period. They are also pretty high on HOTWIRE. There is no way to know if rates will come down closer to your stay, but there is also the definite possibility that they could stay high or go higher. You definitely have the time to try lower bids (and I would definitely start lower), but based on rates that I'm seeing, I'm guessing these dates may require a bid of $160-180+ (depending on the zone) for a 3* in the Midtown area. You can try bidding for 2.5*, but do keep in mind that at lower star ratings in NYC, quality starts to vary more considerably.Did you have any sights/plans in mind?
