First time here and first time trying to bid on rooms. We need 3 rooms March 23 in New Orleans. Is it harder to get 3 rooms? When would be a good to trying to bid? Any advice or help would be appreciated.

Are you looking for 3/23 only? Additionally, which zones would be of interest, and what would be your desired budget per room/per night? Do you need more than 1 bed per room?

Yes we only need one night 3/23, would love the french quarter, budget just something cheaper than regular rates and one bed per room is fine.

Using MAPS and HOTELS.com what type of 'regular rates' are you seeing for 4* hotels in the French Quarter?

If I am reading that site correctly it looks like the 4* in french quarter goes any where from $251. to $449. and the 3.5* is $178. to $218.

Yes, that's about the right ballpark for 'retail' rates.

So given 4* hotels start at about $250/nite... how high are you willing to go for an 'unknown' 4* property by bidding on PRICELINE?

I'll add that HOTWIRE has what appears to be the Sheraton New Orleans for $105/nite... if this is an acceptable property you could either take this at this price from HOTWIRE OR if you prefer to bid on PRICELINE, you could try bidding and use $105 as your maximum bid, taking this HOTWIRE hotel should you be rejected by PRICELINE up to this price. (but if your PRICELINE bid is accepted note that it can be at any 4* hotel in the zone... not necessarily at the Sheraton)

I did place bid on Priceline using the BiddingHelper.com link here. I tried 135. for a 3 1/2* and was rejected. If I book on HOTWIRE how do you know that might be the Sheraton? They have a list and even say some independent hotels.

Searching HOTWIRE for 3rooms/6adults there is a 4* hotel offered in the French Quarter zone for $105/nite (your price may differ by a few dollars) with:

Smoke Free

Fitness

Pool

Restaurant

Business

Hi-Speed Internet

Blind Accessible

Deaf Accessible

Travel Accessible

Room Accessible

Bathroom Accessible

Roll-in Shower

While it could always be some other hotel (either a new property not yet reported to the board or a property already reported but with a new amenity set), this amenity combination has previously been associated with the Sheraton, so that would be my best guess for this one.

Yea, finally got my nerve up and after being rejected by PRICELINE took the 105. offer under HOTWIRE! We got 3 rooms at the Sheraton on Canal for one night 3/23. Just for your info Eric Clapton will be in New Orleans that night.
