Hi,

Need some help with PL bidding strategy for NOLA Downtown area.

For the dates 30/3-2/4 Hotwire is advertising for the following:

4* French Quarter for $103 (possibly Sheraton base on the Smoke Free in amenities)

4* Downtown for $100 (possibly Intercontinental base on the Free Internet in amenities)

On PL both Sheraton and Intercontinental belong to the Downtown area and I would like to win the Sheraton.

How should I bid on PL to have a better chance of winning the Sheraton.

updated Niagara post. Booked via Four Points Niagara site.

Please check for and use the links in our Support Page for your hotel direct purchases (where you'll see that we're an affiliate of the Four Points as well as most other major hotel chains and online booking agencies).

You can't bid on, or target, a specific hotel when using PRICELINE, you have to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star level (or higher) that you choose. With HOTWIRE you can often take an educated guess as to what is being offered based upon the amenities associated with the property, but it's still a 'best guess' and no guarantees you will receive the hotel you're hoping for.

PRICELINE is usually a little cheaper than hotwire, but HOTWIRE gives you the ability to try and target a specific property and/or know the amenities associated with the hotel you're about to purchase (as well as often see reviews and user satisfaction information which can sometimes put your mind at a truly 'opaque' purchase at ease)... so that's the trade-off, lowest price vs. a better understanding of what type of hotel you may receive.

Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there.
