JRossSter
Hi all,Looking for a hotel around the theatre district in NYC. Doesn't have to be right there, but trying for areas like Hells Kitchen, etc surrounding areas. Looking for a nicer hotel (4* so I don't wind up screwed) for next Saturday, November 17th. Any prices or tips? Should I do name your price on priceline and do I have better odds waiting until closer to the day? Thanks!Jason Link to comment

AaronJB
This is generally a busy time of year with holiday shopping and festivities, so while waiting to the last minute may work, it could also end up having the opposite effect if traffic comes in at or above expectations during a busy time of year. What would be your desired budget per night for this stay, and which zones would be acceptable?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. JRossSter
I clicked on both links after reading, and my budget was around $200.. any help is GREATLY appreciated! Trying to give my fiance a good birthday.. Link to comment
thereuare
I think you already have a few options within your budget, HOTWIRE has what i'm guessing to be:InterContinental Barclay or Grand Hyatt for $201/niteAndaz Wall Street (Downtown but great reviews) for $186/niteThe Kitano for $191/niteAre any of these of interest or do you prefer to bid on PRICELINE where you may be able to get something a little cheaper, but less control over guessing the hotel you may receive? If you want to go the PRICELINE route please let us know which zones, by PRICELINE name, are acceptable and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. JRossSter
I was looking for Theatre District, Midtown East or West. I tried bidding through your links on PRICELINE name your price, but coudlnt get anything under 200 total.. ( I bid like 163 and it took me up with fees and taxes to about 210 or so and was rejected) Any tips would be awesome..thanks guys! Link to comment
thereuare
If you really want a 4* hotel have you considered adding ESB and/or CPS to your bidding (although i'm not sure how much it will help)As per the hotels/rates above, you're likely within ~$20 of a win, where the bid price is below your budget but taxes/fees puts you over your budget. You can:1) lower your star rating2) raise your maximum bid3) try including other nearby zones4) wait it out and hope for lower rates in the next weekI'll also add that HOTWIRE has what i believe to be the 3.5* TRYP Times Square South for $140/nite ($179 all-in)... this property is only 3* rated on PRICELINE, but it does get very good reviews, should this be of any interest to you.Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Romelle
Hotwire offerings can change fairly often. Do keep checking regularly. The one you missed may well come back.Romelle Link to comment
AaronJB
Searching for 2adults/2children may also bring up different options, although in NYC this will likely also result in higher prices.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. thereuare
Congratulations on your success! Hope you're pleased with the outcome and this property will be convenient for your needs. You're also near my often recommended Ess-A-Bagel (Third Ave at 51st St) which has one of the best bagels in the city, makes for a nice, and relatively inexpensive, breakfast among local NYers. Can you please add a reply to this thread with the amenities shown before your purchase... you can still view this information by going to HOTWIRE and clicking the MY ACCOUNT link near the top right of their home page.Thank you for sharing your results and using the HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your purchase.
