Priceline Hotel: Bidding strategy help 11/8-11/11

It's a big last minute, but those are sometimes the best times!

Getting the framework together to take a trip with my friend to San Francisco from 11/8-11/11 (dates not set in stone yet) and I'm curious what form of attack should be taken, as well as what prices I should be seeing right now? Back in mid March, I used this website and got the Hilton in Union Square East for $112 a night, 3 nights total, for $399.30 after tax. Thanks for much for helping me get this!

In any case, I'm looking to stay somewhere by or within Union Square again. It has to be within walking distance to Powell. I'd definitely prefer a 4* hotel, as I was pretty satisfied with the deal I got at the Hilton off of O'Farrell. It was a quick walk to Powell Street. As long as I didn't walk too far east, it was great. I wouldn't mind a 3.5* hotel as long as I got a killer deal though. I'm looking to spend about $130 max per night. I noticed in another post that someone was able to get the Sir Francis Drake hotel from 11/19-11/21 for $90 a night, which is awesome! Then again, that's from Mon-Wed though.

Any specific tips, or idea about where I should start, in regards to pricing, areas, etc?

Rates are date specific and can very greatly from one check-in/check-out date to the next, as well the rates currently available may not be offered once you're ready to commit to a non-refundable purchase.

At the moment i think your maximum bid of $130/nite is at the very low end of the range of what might be accepted, but as per above, a lot can change from between now and the time you're ready to bid as well as if you change your travel dates.
