Priceline Hotel: 4* Las Vegas (West of Strip) The Palms Casino Resort

Is Rio the only hotel on Priceline in the 4* West Strip category?

I tried to bid it tonight for $38.00 and lost. I guess I have to wait 24 hrs to try again, because I'm not flexible for this trip. I want the Rio.

Any suggestions or thoughts?

Thanks in advance - and btw, I used the HOTWIRE link from here. :-)

Welcome to Betterbidding.

The list of hotels reported to the board can be found here: Priceline Hotel List Nevada. That only includes the hotels reported to the board - there may others not yet reported to the board, and star ratings can change at any time.

What would be your desired budget per night for this stay?

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.

Since you only want the Rio, and there are other 'known' possibilities at the 4* level i'm not sure if you want to continue bidding or not, but if so (or even if not it will help you with future bidding in other areas) you should read up on re-bidding in this Priceline Re-Bidding Explained thread.

When bidding 4* in Las Vegas you have FOUR re-bid zones (NOTE: Summerlin is not one of them) that will enable you to bid again without having to wait out the 24 hour lock-out period. If you're new to the subject feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before bidding.

I'm just hoping to get a great deal. I've done it in the past - something like $45 for Planet Hollywood - so I have high hopes. I'm thinking if this is off-strip, a good deal should be even more possible.

I looked at the first link - and see the Palms is another 4* on that zone. I'm willing to risk getting Palms, since it's so near to Rio.

I don't want to risk getting any other property though. So, that's why I thought I would have to wait the 24hrs so I could bid only in the zone for 4*.

I'll look at the other link on re-bidding and see what I can learn there.

Thank you!

I read the info on re-bidding! I got it!

Sooooo, I checked every zone in Priceline and the following do NOT have 4* or higher in the zone:

Boulder Strip

Henderson

NW Las Vegas

Nellis - LV speedway

Summerlin

Tonight, I will bid first on the West of Strip 4* again and low ball, then if I lose, I can add a zone - so it will allow me to re-bid. And since Priceline won't give me anything lower than a 4*, I'm not risking getting anything out of my zone (which is hopefully only the Rio and Palms).

That should give me 6 bids each 24 hours. I think I'll start at $40 and move up in $5 increments, maxing out at $65. Maybe I'll get lucky.

Just noticed that you note "summerlin" isn't one of them. Why not?

... because it contains 'Resort' class hotels and your 4* bid could be upgraded to a higher rated (Resort) property. The star rating you select is the minimum you're willing to accept... not the absolute star rating you will receive.

If you haven't yet, please read your messages and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your purchases.

Used the link from my messages for PRICELINE to bid this morning - and won!

Palms for $55 a night. I was hoping for Rio, since my conference is there - but I can totally live with the Palms. I go to Vegas often and have never set foot in the place, so I'm looking forward to checking it out. Playboy Club here I come!! I'll just have to catch a cab for the short jaunt over to Rio if things look a little unsettling by foot.

Thanks for all the help!

Congratulations on your success!

Hope you're pleased with the results and this property works well for your plans. I have stayed at the Rio while attending events at the Palms and it's an easy walk, i wouldn't expect any problems as long as you walk from Point A to Point B and not wander around the area late at nite.

Thank you for sharing your win and using the PRICELINE links on the board to begin your bidding.

Enjoy your stay.

Just a side note for your win. Palms charges a $20 a night resort fee that is NOT included in the rate for each night AND the Playboy Club is no more. Closed back in June 2012. They took the Playboy logo off the tower as well. So just letting you know. Also the Gold Coast next to the Rio has a terrific breakfast buffet for $6 only. And the casino is always busy and a TGI Fridays there too. I have stayed at all 3 properties and been out and about walking from each Hotel late at night, always people around, safe too.

Thank you for that info! I did wonder about the resort fee, because so many people mention it.

I plan to walk through the Gold Coast too, and to utilize the path through there to get to Rio. But, I read enough to have me concerned a little about the safety of that walk - so I may spring for the small cab fare if I get a bad vibe.

Turns out, the flight I wanted no longer exists. Soooooo, I need 1 more night. I tried to use the 'extend your stay' feature from PRICELINE and they indicate that their best offer at Palms for my extra night was $160 before taxes/fees. No thanks.

So, I'm off to study a little more and find a cheaper room for the day before my conference. I'll look at something cheap and on the strip, so I can walk around and do some shopping/gambling before checking into the Palms the next day.
