pricelinenoob
Hi,I've tried bidding for a 4* in Midtown (East/Central)The dates I need are:- Sept 27 to Sept 28 (1night)- October 1 to October 3 (2 nights)I've already secured sept 28 to October 1 per previous post on forum.I kept increasing my bids and have been unsuccessful with $260.How much should I expect to pay? Can I ask if priceline prices do go down? i.e. if I try tomorrow, should I start with a higher price or could a lower price work too? Or does it mean that all the priceline places are already booked? Thanks! Link to comment
AaronJB
Purchase timing is discussed in detail in the FAQ. You can try lower at any time, but there is also definitely the chance during a busy season like this that prices could go higher or stay at current levels. Have you tried up to $260 for a 4* for both periods? In terms of Midtown Central, did you mean Midtown West? What would be your desired max bid?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. Link to comment
pricelinenoob
Yes, i've tried $260 for both Midtown East and Midtown West. My max would be at $280 or so.Thanks for the links you provided. Link to comment
thereuare
Please use separate threads for each additional leg of your trip. We will use this thread for the 9/27-9/28 nite... please start a NEW TOPIC for the remaining nites.Assuming you have already bid up to $260 in both the MTE and MTW zones and just for the solo nite of 9/27, i would try the following:When bidding for a 4* hotel in NYC you have SIX re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* MTW...Bid $200, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $215, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $225, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $235, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $245, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $255, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $263, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* MTE...Bid $200, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $215, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $225, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $235, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $245, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $255, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $263, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* MTW and MTE...Bid $265, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $268, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $270, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $273, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $275, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $278, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $280Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. pricelinenoob
Thanks for the advice.I've tried with no luck, Last attempted price was $295.It's interesting that i was able to get the next 3 days for $180. So, is it difficult to get 1 day vs 3days (sept27-28)? Link to comment
thereuare
It's not one nite vs. three nites but rather demand at hotel(s) for the particular dates in question. In NYC weekend rates are typically a little less than midweek rates... the midweek has both business travelers and tourists, whereas on the weekends it's mostly just tourists (who are not on expense accounts and more price sensitive)Using MAPS and HOTELS.com what is the best rate you're able to find for a 4* property for the nite of Sept 27?Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. pricelinenoob
Just won The Shoreham Hotel for $257 using PRICELINE, staying 1 night on Sept 27.I checked the reviews and there are some hits and misses. Hopefully, we don't have any problem since it's a 4*. Link to comment
