amylwong26
Hi there!I'm new to Betterbidding. I'm looking for a 2.5*-3* hotel in any of the following areas:- chelsea- times square- empire state- midtown east or west- soho- tribeca- downtownLowest cost is my number one priority. Is $100 a reasonable bid for any of the above listed areas? What should my bidding strategy be? Also, how easy is it to get an upgrade? Our party is for 4 people but I am willing to take a risk with priceline that can only guarantee a room for double occupancy. Thanks for the help! Link to comment
mtbscott
September is probably the busiest month of the year for NYC, $100 is too low for that period. I recently got an accepted bid for a 2* at $120 in November, that after a couple of weeks of trying for higher star levels up to $135. For September, I think you're going to have to raise your price even for a 2*. Link to comment
AaronJB
Welcome to Betterbidding. :)A few thoughts - Unfortunately (as noted above), $100 is not going to be realistic for these dates. Additionally, PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy/1 bed - this is particularly true in NYC, where getting two beds using PRICELINE is unlikely. HOTWIRE, where you can indicate the amount of people in the party, is a better bet in NYC.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. thereuare
At current rates I think you have a chance at a 2.5* property at $150, but i'd put the chances at less than 50/50. However, i'll reiterate the double/quad occupancy risk in NYC, especially if 4adults and at the lower star levels, as some of the rooms can be very small. However, it's ultimately your trip and for your group to decide if it's a risk they're willing to take and how you'll handle it should you receive a room with only one bed.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there.
