From reading the board I think it could be the Best Western or Essex in, but I'd like to be sure.We want to be within walking distance of Grant Park.

This listing has not yet been ID'd/reported to the board, but I'd be extremely cautious of the 45% recommended rating and the 3/5 tripadvisor rating. My guess is that this may be the Congress or Travelodge. I'm seeing 4* properties to the North of the River for slightly more and what appears to be the Burnham or Allerton in the Loop for not much more. I'm seeing the 3* above for $190 - I think you can get a much nicer hotel for not much more, or could likely get a 4* in the Loop (although you have to be willing to stay anywhere within the shaded area of that zone) on PRICELINE for $150-175 +/-; there are definitely a number of better options than the 3*.

Thank you for the insight. Our current situation is that we have until 4pm on 8/1 to cancel our reservation at the howard johnson. We are going to Lollapalooza and would like to be near Grant Park so location is priority number 1. Do you think the congress or travelodge would be an upgrade to the howard johnson we already have. It is about 1.5 miles from the gates to the festival. We'd also like to keep the per night average under 200.

For $100/night, you can stay at University Center, which is 2 blocks from Grant Park. While it is a dorm, with a shared bath for 2 rooms, it does include one meal.

I am looking on Hotwire right now at a hotel with the following amentities: Business Center, High-Speed Internet Access, Accessible for the blind, Accessible for the deaf, Free Breakfast, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Handicapped parking

It has an 80% approval rating on Hotwire. I looked on the list of hotels and could not find one that fit the criteria. Does anyone have any clue what it could be? It's at $174 right now. Thanks

If you're still looking 'down to the wire', if you search on MAPS and HOTELS.com within 3 miles of 'Grant Park Chicago' there are quite a few choices (click thru on each to confirm bookable) there are a few options at $199 and quite a few more, some excellent choices, if you can stretch your budget another $5-$25/nite.

We actually may be crashing with some friends for at least tomorrow night(8/2). Do you think the rates will ease up around mid day tomorrow or do they go higher?

There may be some easing in rates in the next day or so, but there is no way to know - with a big event going on this weekend, hotels could absolutely decide that there is no need to offer discounted inventory given that they expect to get walk-ins they can charge full price to.
