spikedstiletto
Hi! I will be in Las Vegas 9/1-9/4. My cousin already booked Aria from 9/2-9/4 and I am on my own for 9/1. I have already done a bit of searching on Hotwire and bidding on Priceline using the links on the board. Here is where I sit right now - yes I've been bidding very low as this is my first time. Saturday 9/1 is the most expensive night that weekend - Any advice on where to bid today?I'm aiming at 5* north or south strip. I would consider 4* if I'm completely out of my league, but want to cap my budget at $150 since I'll be by myself. Any thoughts? Thanks! Any other zones I can safely bid in? AaronJB
Welcome to Betterbidding. :)9/1 appears to be the problem - 9/2-4 viewed separately is cheaper. For all three dates, I think you could likely get a 5* in Strip South for $115-125.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. Link to comment
Romelle
For determining which zones can be used safely as 5* free rebids, you need to be in Priceline. Then click on the zones one at a time and see which star levels are available for bidding (they turn white). After clicking on a zone and determining if it is a good free rebid, click on it again to uncheck it before clicking on the next zone. Hint - there are 11 safe ones at the 5* level. It is ESSENTIAL that you have the correct technique and do the verifying just before bidding because things change. If you rely on an old list or somebody else's posting, you could end up with a hotel just added to one of those zones you thought was safe. Hotwire has a North Strip 5* at $158, but the amenities show a kitchenette, so it is most likely the Trump. Romelle Link to comment
thereuare
You only need one nite, 9/1, correct? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
spikedstiletto
That's correct, just 9/1. I'm also open to 4* since it sounds like Saturday is just not going to happen for $150.Pardon my typos on the dates.. All bids happened this week! Not in September. Link to comment
Romelle
At the 4* level there are not the same number of free rebids. Be particularly careful not to include Summerlin. While it doesn't have any 4* bidding, down at the bottom of the star list is "Resort". And that acts like a 4 1/2*. So if you try to use it as a free rebid, Priceline might "upgrade" you to Resort and you'd be staying quite a ways out of town. If you aren't sure as to which zones are OK, please post your assumptions back here and somebody will double check them. Romelle Link to comment
spikedstiletto
Thanks all for the tips. I am considering going with a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal or a Hotwire deal for a 4* Strip South hotel.PRICELINEStrip Vicinity South$178 (not really interested but would like to know)Indoor or Outdoor PoolRestaurantBusiness CenterCasinoFitness CenterHOTWIREStrip South Area$137 ($211 other sites)Resort Casino Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Golf Nearby Accessible for the deaf Free Parking Free Internet Accessible path of travelIn-room accessibility Wheelchair accessible Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower Link to comment
Romelle
Why not 4* Priceline bid the North and South strip zones up to the Hotwire $137 before switching to accepting the Hotwire offer? Hotwire can be more generous with stars than Priceline (roughly 1/2 a star), a Hotwire 4* might be a Priceline 3 1/2*. Also, there can be differences in the taxes and fees, so the actual match point above would be the Hotwire $137++ versus the Priceline $X++.Romelle Link to comment
MrCravat
Hi Spiked--Newbie hereOn Hotwire if you click on "Show Me " they give an indication of how much "Resort Fees" are ( if there are any ) and this may help before actually buying. Link to comment
thereuare
Best guess for the HOTWIRE 4* Strip South property would be the Tropicana. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. spikedstiletto
I definitely used the board links and bidded on PRICELINE again. I won the Tropicana for $120 for 9/1. It will certainly do for my uses... Especially because I will be at Cosmo the rest of the weekend! Yes I switched from Aria for another awesome deal. Thanks everyone for your advice. Can't wait for September. Link to comment
