ongkenyong
Boston is notorious for expensive room rates and I've been trying to get a "cheap" hotel for many weeks already off Priceline. Wanted a hotel close to the city centre so stuck to 4 zones. Downtown, Copley, WTC and Cambridge. Many many bidding combinations possible so I tried many different bids each 72 hour period. Didn't mind either a 2.5* or 3* hotel, so for each zone, I bid for 3* first. Then lowered to 2.5* and increased by bid slightly. Bidding ranging from $50 to $75. As hotels may become availabile anytime at any price, I stuck to the same bid prices after each lockout. Got a bit desperate today, so I raised my bid levels but sticking to the same strategy. Final winning bid was $80, 2.5* 4 zones (Downtown, Copley, WTC and Cambridge). Happy to be 'upgraded' to a 3* hotel in Cambrdge.Anyway, bottom line is that at this time, the cheapest 3* hotel you're going to get of Priceline in Central Boston during that period in my opinion is $80. Currently, room rate is $237. Great savings of 66% coupled with good reviews on tripadvisor. Would have liked to pay less, but I'm pretty happy with the overall result.3* Marriott Cambridge Check-In Date: Tue, Sep 6, 2005 Check-Out Date: Fri, Sep 9, 2005 Your Offer Price: $80.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 3 Subtotal: $240.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $40.52 Total Charges: $280.52 Link to comment

ongkenyong
My previous bid before winning was $78, 3* 4 zones (Downtown, Copley, WTC and Cambridge). Then I kept the zones, raise bid by $2 and dropped to 2.5*. Link to comment
