PrivatePyle
Dates: 5/12 - 5/14. We are a group of 4 people, I am not sure if they honor 2 double bed requests on priceline bookings. If not, I m OK to book 2 separate rooms too.I am OK with any of the properties between the MGM Grand and the Wynn on the strip. My budget is around $100. Based on the recent wins, I think my best chance is either the Wynn or the Aria.I haven't started bidding yet. Need suggestions. I don't want any of the properties which are off the strip. Also need inputs on the re-bidding strategy since I don't have a lot of time with me. Link to comment
PrivatePyle
Seems like I won't get a 5* in that price range because one of my nights is a *Saturday*.I can go for a 4* too. Please help me bid. Link to comment
AaronJB
PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy/1 bed. 2 beds can be requested with the hotel, but the hotel can say no or charge an upgrade fee. There have been a number of reports of hotels charging for two beds in Vegas, especially at the 4/5* level. HOTWIRE may be a better choice, because you can indicate four people, which ensures some sort of bedding for the entire party. If you don't mind risking one bed or the possibility of being charged extra, PRICELINE is usually cheaper. In terms of acceptable properties, is staying anywhere within the North/South Strip zones acceptable?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. PrivatePyle
Thanks I just clicked on those links.Yes, anywhere between MGM and Wynn is fine with me. I will probably book 2 rooms. Either 4* or 5* Link to comment
thereuare
When bidding 4* in Las Vegas you have FOUR re-bid zones. PrivatePyle
Thank you for the details. One last question before I click on the PRICELINE link on the forum to start bidding: I m there for 3 nights actually and I was thinking to stay close to the airport on the night of 14th since we have a 7 am flight. But seems like the rates near the airport are more than the ones on the strip. Do I stand a chance of < $40 rates on that night for a room near LAS? If yes, I ll start a separate thread for that. Link to comment
PrivatePyle
Or I ll just extend this to 3 nights. Link to comment
thereuare
Not sure what star rating you're looking to bid in the Airport area, but sub-$40 for something 'decent' (3* and above?) does not seem likely at the moment. As well, if you go to our Priceline Maps and enter Las Vegas, you can see that the typical range in the Airport zone starts at $40+, so i don't think under $40 is likely (regardless of the dates, although i did look into them for the nite you're referencing above)As well, not sure if you've been to Vegas before, but the Strip is very close to the Airport so changing hotels may not save you that much time in the morning (in addition to wasting time checking-out of your current hotel and moving to the airport). I'd see some value in changing hotels if there was significant savings OR other benefit, but changing hotels also 'removes' you from the better strip location your last nite in Vegas. Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board. PrivatePyle
Thanks, makes sense. I have split my stay in to two. Saturday night, where I d settle for something cheap (3*+ I ll post a separate thread for). On this stay, I d reduce it to two nights, 5/12 - 5/14 and will bid for 5* first. I saw a couple of <100$ rates on HotWire for this stay and I have posted a thread on the HotWire forum. Based on that, I d start bidding for Priceline using the link on this forum Link to comment
thereuare
I'm not following a few things:1) for the HOTWIRE hotels above, what is the star rating of each? HOTWIRE only shows one hotel per zone per star rating, so not sure what the star rating is of each. Also, please post the amenity names only (and not the descriptions) as it will make your post easier to read2) is your next move to bid on PRICELINE? If so, why not try that first, then if rejected take a look at what HOTWIRE is offering?3) please use the requested PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board each time you access the respective sites and before postingLet us know how you want to proceed and we'll take it from there. (and please click both a priceline and HOTWIRE link above before replying)Thanks. PrivatePyle
I clicked on the HOTWIRE link on the forum to search again. It did show two 5* hotels on the same area (Las Vegas North Strip). Details are in the post above. Please help me ID those. Resort fee on one of them $82 ($135 other sites)) is $30.00 and the other ($97/night. ($184 other sites)) is $25.00. The reason I would want to ID them was because if one of those is my preferred choice (Venetian / Palazzo / Wynn). I would not worry about bidding on Priceline, since I won't be sure what will I get.Yes, I did click on the PRICELINE link too. Link to comment
thereuare
Please post only the amenity names (and not the descriptions) as you can see how much easier it is to read and helps minimize the chance that we'll miss an amenity when researching your trip.Dates: Sun - Tue: 5/13 - 5/15. If so, i'm seeing something similar to the $82/nite property but in the Strip SOUTH zone... and the other 5* property is in the Strip NORTH zone but also has a Smoke Free amenity listed. Please confirm if either/both of these are currently showing on a current HOTWIRE search and if so, please clarify the dates you're searching. thereuare
The Strip South property is a match for the Aria while best guess for the Strip North is the Trump. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know whatever you decide to do for this stay or if we can be of further help. PrivatePyle
Thanks!I used the PRICELINE links to start bidding. I started with 73 and went all the way to 85 just focussing on strip North by adding several rebid zones. No success yet. Not sure what we will do just yet. The normal prices for 4* on the ones we like (MGM for example) are around the 80 range too. So may end up booking those directly on PRICELINE.. Link to comment
thereuare
Was your $85 bid for a 5* or 4* property?Keep us updated on your progress and let us know if we can be of further help along the way. Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board. PrivatePyle
5*. I am a little hesitant to bid on 4* because we do not want to stay on something like Monte Carlo.Waiting for 24 hours to pass by. Will bid only for Strip North (targetting the *reported* properties Palazzo/Wynn/Venetian). If this does not work out will book any of our favorite 4* on the strip, directly. Thanks for all the help. thereuare
If your 5* bidding fails you may be able to 'safely' bid at the 4* level in the Strip North zone.If you do decide to book direct please check for and use the links in our Support Page whenever possible (we have links to most of the MGM Grand owned properties... as well you can use our Las Vegas Checker for researching hotel direct rates)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know what you ultimately end up doing for this trip or if we can be of further help along the way. PrivatePyle
Used the PRICELINE link and went up to $96 today for the same 5* bid. Unsuccessful, will probably book something using your Support Page as a back up and keep trying for the 5*. I might not win for a 2 digit per night rate I think.Btw, I won Palace Station Hotel for the Saturday night. I neither wanted to stay on the strip nor too far away from it on Sat'day night, so that worked. Sweet deal at $47 but not too thrilled about the $15 resort fee :-( Link to comment
