Agoust
I have a conference at the Hyatt Regency Capitol Hill August 1-5. The conference rate for attendees is $189, not including taxes.I'm looking for a 3* or higher within walking distance--if not at the hotel itself. I'm willing to spend $75-150. Am I in Fantasyland? Too early to bid? Thanks for your help! Link to comment
thereuare
'Walking distance' means different things to different people. With PRICELINE you can't focus/target on only a specific part of the zone, you have to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star level (or higher) that you choose. If you use the search box on the top right of the board and enter 'Washington DC' and be able to zoom in on the map of this zone, are you willing to stay anywhere within the zone boundaries? If not, HOTWIRE be an option. With HOTWIRE you can often take an educated guess as to what is being offered based upon the amenities associated with the property, but it's still a 'best guess' and no guarantees you will receive the hotel you're hoping for.Let us know your thoughts regarding the above and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Agoust
Sorry, I should have been more specific. Anywhere in Priceline's Convention Center/Capitol Hill area looks fine. I'm afraid other zones will pull me too far away. Link to comment
thereuare
At the 3* level you only have ONE re-bid zone. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding. As you have plenty of time before your stay, i'd bid as follows:Select 3* Convention Center - Capitol Hill...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80If the above is rejected wait 24 hours and try again, adding $5 to each bid, and repeat every 24 hours (so your pairs are $85/$90, $95/$100, $105/$110, $115/$120, etc, etc) which should get you to your $150 maximum bid in about a week.Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. Agoust
Thanks to the board! I nudged my dates to August 2-5, bid $80 on a four-star, and won the George, a Kimpton Hotel. This was my first attempt--maybe I should have started lower? With taxes and fees that came to $283.32. I used the board's PRICELINE link. Link to comment
