hockeyfan
We are planning to go to NYC for the period of Mar 9 - 12, 2012. We previously stayed 20 years ago at the Hilton Gateway and found it to be convenient to get into the city. We are a family of 3. Should we consider others and what is the better bidding approach for this region. Thanks for you help! Link to comment
AaronJB
Welcome to Betterbidding. :)HOTWIRE would be a better choice in this case due to being able to indicate the amount of people in the party and ensure bedding for the amount of people (whereas PRICELINE only guarantees 1 bed/double occupancy). What would be your desired budget per night for this stay?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. Link to comment
hockeyfan
We were hoping to spend around $ 100 before taxes and parking. Link to comment
thereuare
We previously stayed 20 years ago at the Hilton Gateway and found it to be convenient to get into the city.... Should we consider others and what is the better bidding approach for this region. You can't bid on a specific hotel when using PRICELINE and there are hotels (most) in this area that are not connected to Newark Penn Station and therefore not as convenient to get into the city. As well, this is not a very good/safe area at nite.I would sooner look at the Secaucus-Meadowland area where most (but not all) hotels are located near a bus stop into the city, but should you land a hotel that is not near a bus (or offer shuttle service to Secaucus transfer station) you at least have the option of driving to a Park N Ride and taking the bus from there.Your other option would be Hoboken-Jersey city, but currently the 4* offering here is over your budget. The current HOTWIRE offer is likely the Sheraton Suites which would be a better choice than Secaucus-Meadowlands, although it is typically considered the least best 4* hotel in the zone (as other 4* hotels in this area are better located and offer commuting to NYC via PATH train rather than the bus which is how you would commute from the Sheraton Suites)Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
