Lambaek
Hi there! We are trying to find accomodation for our stay in NYC, in the beginning of April. We aren't too picky when it comes to the room - basically we are just looking for a clean bed!The price is the most important parameter - would much rather spend the money in the stores and restaurants:) Good location is a "nice to have". We would be willing to walk 10-15 minutes to catch a metro.I think that we would be ok with 2.5*! Where would you recommend staying and what price do you think we can expect? How much more would a 3* be?Thank you so much in advance!Lambaek Link to comment

Lambaek
We are hoping to find a room for around 90-100$ + taxes, but don't know if that is realistic. We would like to stay in Chelsea, MTE, MTW, ESB or CPS. However SoHo and Lower East Side would also be OK, if that is cheaper :/Do you think this is possible? Link to comment
thereuare
We can try, but under $100 is not very common for NYC and usually only some of the slowest times of the year (which this is not one of). However, HOTWIRE has a 3.5* hotel that is an 'outlier' in the sense that at $129/nite is priced somewhat below many of the other offers for these dates:3.5* Downtown-Soho with Fitness, Laundry, InternetBest guess is that this is the Club Quarters DowntownWould this be acceptable? If so, you try bidding on PRICELINE in an effort to beat this price (and not have to go as low as 2.5* unless you really wanted to try it) OR simply take this offer above. HOWEVER, note that this is not in PRICELINE's Soho or Lower East Side zone, it is a bit further south in their 'Downtown-Financial District' zone.Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Lambaek
Thanks for the help. Unfortunately it looks like the offer is gone...However a hotel of that standard would be more than sufficient. No problem to stretch the hotel-budget to be in the 130$-range if that helps.Could you help me with a bidding strategy? Location is still as mentioned in my last post. Thanks in advance :) Link to comment
thereuare
However a hotel of that standard would be more than sufficient. No problem to stretch the hotel-budget to be in the 130$-range if that helps. What do you want to set your minimum star rating at... earlier you mentioned 2.5*, although i'd recommend a minimum 3*, but it's up to you depending upon your budget and needs for this trip. Also, exactly what do you want to use as your maximum bid for this stay... as a little more/less than $130 may be the difference for this complete stay.Lastly, is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option, as i still see the Downtown property previously mentioned for $129/nite if you change your search to 4/3-4/12... then you could make a separate purchase for 4/1-4/3, which would likely result in a different property and you'd need to change hotels after the first two nites (although what appears to be the same hotel is offered for the first 2 nites of your stay at $150/nite (although there is another option in the ESB zone at $146/nite for the first 2 nites if you prefer to be more centrally located for these nites)Let us know your thoughts and how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. thereuare
Congratulations on your success! This is a very nice deal for an extended stay and for this time of year, hope you're pleased with the purchase and looking forward to your trip.If you're hungry one late nite during your trip (or for an inexpensive late nite dinner) give the famous a try for dinner... $6 for a platter of food with great white sauce and the spiciest hot sauce you'll likely ever try (ask for both on the side). Very popular and always a line, the SouthWest corner of 53rd St and Sixth Ave and you want the cart that is there from 7:30pm-4am (a different cart is there during the day)Thank you for sharing your win with the board.
