BrooklynFan16
Hi...I'm trying to bid on a 5 star hotel on the Vegas Strip for 4/21 - 4/25. I've bid up to $95.Rates for Vdara on hotels.com is $149/night and there is a 5* in Strip South which I assume is Aria on Hotwire for $123/night.Do you think I'm pretty close? Any point in waiting a little while and trying again? I'm guessing I'm fairly close and $105 might win it. Link to comment
AaronJB
I think you're very close to a win, and may want to proceed up by $3's rather than $5's. I'd agree that you're probably looking at $100-110.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. Link to comment
BrooklynFan16
Got up to $110 and nothing. Pretty surprised about that because I'm getting very close to the Hotwire offer of $123.Better to wait a few days and start over or to keep increasing my bid? Link to comment
thereuare
I think the Saturday nite may be preventing the acceptance at these bid amounts... is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. BrooklynFan16
It's my first time in Vegas, so a little nervous about the possibility of having to switch hotels. Not sure how to avoid this other than avoid bidding on Strip North zone and only bidding on South. Seems like 9 out of 10 wins are at Aria. Link to comment

BrooklynFan16
Don't want to lose half of Sunday checking out at 11am and checking in somewhere at 3pm...But I was thinking if I eliminated a zone then I might maximize my chance to get the same hotel. Link to comment
thereuare
Don't want to lose half of Sunday checking out at 11am and checking in somewhere at 3pm...But I was thinking if I eliminated a zone then I might maximize my chance to get the same hotel. If you're not willing to accept the risk of changing hotels then you shouldn't try SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID.If you are willing to split, then after the first purchase you can:-try the 'extend your stay' option with PRICELINE (assuming offered) and see what they suggest for the additional nite (NOTE: the extend your stay option may not be offered, and even if it is, no assurance you'll be able to extend your stay at the same, or any, price)-search HOTWIRE to see if what you believe is the same hotel is offered for the first nite of your trip-purchase the hotel you recieved for the latter nites of your stay thru traditional booking channels (but you'll be subject to whatever the prevailing rate is)... if this is your first choice of option may just be better to simply take the HOTWIRE offer for $125/nite as i think this will be very close to the figure of 'winning' the last 3 nites and purchasing the first nite direct-bid on PRICELINE and hope for the bestAlso, you don't need to walk around with your bags for the 'switch day'... you can leave your bags/luggage with the bellman desk at the hotel you just checked-out of or at the hotel you've yet to check-in to.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Romelle
Also, hotels will sometimes let you have a late check-out and/or an early check-in if you ask very nicely. The hotels are so unique in Las Vegas I'd probably choose to stay in more than one just for the experiences.Romelle Link to comment
BrooklynFan16
Ended up waiting a couple days and using the PRICELINE link just won Aria for $112/night. Link to comment
