Priceline Hotel: Having trouble winning downtown Ottawa hotel...

I usually have a lot of success w/ Priceline, but having trouble this time.

Downtown Ottawa

Feb. 10. 2012 to Feb. 12, 2012

Tried: 4*, 3.5* ; all areas (added one by one); bids $80 to $91. All rejected.

I figured I'd get the Delta 3.5*, which I saw another poster get for $86.

I realize the Marriot (which I've stayed at many times) is probably unlikely, though I see winning posts for $88, $103, $106.

Nothing on Hotwire or the other sites either. I guess that weekend is tough because it's close to Valentine's Day?

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

If you've had any successes within the last year it would be appreciated if you started to share your wins wins with the board so that the information can help other users.

What is the best rate you're able to find at a 3.5* or 4* hotel for these dates within the downtown area? Given this 'retail' price, what is your maximum bid for this trip?

Feb 10 - 12 is during Winterlude in Ottawa. Hotels get very busy during this time. Feb 10-12 is the second weekend of Winterlude. For a 3.5 star you are probably looking at the $95-$100 range and for the 4 star Marriott probably $105 and up.

I've decided not to go. Will save it for another time.

thereuare: Perhaps I gave the wrong impression. Haven't used Priceline or Hotwire in quite some time, but in the past, I was ble to get some really great prices. Thus, no other wins to report, sir. ;)
