bob don
I saw folks here get excited when successfully bid cars for $16 a day from PRICELINE, but the HOTWIRE search price is only $12.95 a day (surcharges and taxes not included) from San Francisco airport. So what's the point? Am I missing any hidden cost? Link to comment

bob don
Hi Thereuare, I am a long time user of both priceline and hotwire, but mostly for hotels. I recently want to book a rental car from SFO, and just checked hotwire's search (not bid) and it gives $12.95 per day. So why people still bid something like $16 on priceline instead of simply taking the hotwire's risk free rate? Link to comment
thereuare
Rates are date specific, so while HOTWIRE's rate for a rental may be $13/day for your dates, it's possible that PRICELINE rates are even less... and it's likely that when others have won at $16 via PRICELINE that the HOTWIRE rate was higher than this for those particular dates. What are the date(s) of the rental you need? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. bob don
Of course I am talking about the same dates. Different dates make no sense. I am looking for SFO January 23-30. Link to comment
thereuare
I'm not sure we're on the same page here...Do you see a post on the board where 'folks here get excited when successfully bid cars for $16 a day' for the same dates as your rental, Jan 23-30?
