jspruit
Hello everyone,I'd like some help regarding bidding on a car rental picking up and returning from Detroit airport (DTW.) We would like a minivan or midsize SUV and will need to pick it up on Monday 28 November around 6:45pm and return it on Monday 5 December at 4:00pm. Expedia is showing lowest prices at Enterprise for $517.32 for the minivan and Enterprise for $431.16 for the midsize SUV. Hotwire is showing lowest prices at $247.19 for either the minivan or midsize SUV. Is this the best price do you think that I'll be able to get and should I just take it or is there another way to see if I can get a lower price somehow? Thanks in advance for your help. thereuare
Nobody can say if rates will come down, or move higher, between now and your rental, but at nearly half price of a conventional booking i would feel pretty good locking in such a deal now.You could try savings a few extra dollars by trying a slightly lower price on PRICELINE then the HOTWIRE offer, but with fees/taxes making up such a large part of a rental cost, shaving a few dollars from a daily rate doesn't effect the bottomline as much as you would think. However, if you want to try and save a few extra dollars, that would be an option. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how you ultimately book this rental or if we can be of further help. jspruit
Thank you for your advice. I ended up getting the car rental from Priceline for a few dollars cheaper than hotwire, as their prices escalated in the past few days. The final price from Priceline was actually lower than the initial offer from hotwire. I used the links that you had posted below. I'll use your website again for advice and thanks again. thereuare
Glad you found a deal thru PRICELINE and are pleased with the outcome. We've moved this thread to the priceline section of the board, can you please add a reply to this thread with the details of your purchase (car class, rental agency which accepted the bid, winning bid price and rental dates) so we can add this information to the topic title and others can use this info to assist in their own PRICELINE bidding for the DTW area. Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board..Have a great trip.
