KatiesMom
Well here goes....probably one of the busiest times of the year and I am starting late to hunt for one room, for one person occupancy for one night. Nothing fancy but nothing disgusting. Any ideas or thoughts on how to purse this one? Cheaper the better. Link to comment
thenewbie
Nothing on PL is really close to Foxwoods, so it depends on where you want to stay. Closer to Mohegan Sun, but only 12 miles from Foxwoods: Microtel Inn, Uncasville $59 - 1 Queen Bed - "Get Up and Go Rate"http://www.microteluncasville.com/ Link to comment
thereuare
You may also want to try Mystic, CT where a few of the hotels run shuttles to the casino. However, this area too can be tough during the summertime. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
ufauxreal
We won a bid for the 2 1/2* Hilltop Inn in North Stonington over Labor Day weekend (see my HOTWIRE post). They provide shuttle service to the casinos. Try searching for Mystic, CT using the vacation package.. just make up a departure airport. This will give you some idea of what their inventory is.. and you can compare amenities.A couple of years ago we stayed at the Amerisuites in Mystic and it was a straight drive up Rt. 2 to Foxwoods. As I recall it was under 1/2 hr. to get there.Good luck with it.JB Link to comment

KatiesMom
Hi all, just a very quick update. If you are planning on a trip to Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun, the Microtel is a good, affordable choice. I stayed at the Microtel in Uncasville, very close to Mohegan Sun and just a short drive from Foxwoods. My room- a queen, non-smoking, was small, but quite clean. I was in room 246 which was located near the elevators and ice machine. But, it was quiet. Maybe because I had the AC turned on and the white noise blocked any sound. The bed is more like a full size rather than queen. The room was small, if more than one person, try to get a larger one. Nice television, hairdryer, coffemaker and coffee in the room. The motel is 4 years old and very clean. There's a nice area in the lobby where they serve free continental breakfast (I don't know how it was, because I slept through breakfast) and they have on site laundry facilities. The front desk was terrific. When I wandered in at 5 a.m. after a long day and night at the casino I asked for a late checkout, no problem. For a good budget stay, not bad at all! Perhaps in the future this will be included on priceline or hotwire. And in case anyone is wondering, Mohegan Sun does not have a poker room. Apparently there was a big problem with operating it...so Foxwoods is the only game in town for Texas Hold'em, 5 Card Stud, Omaha...etc... Link to comment
