bogey1978
Hi. We are going to Maui 1/13-1/18 staying in kanaapali and I have been bidding for the past couple of weeks on the resort level with no luck. I started at $125 and then added the two re-bid zones going up $5 each time ending at $135. This week I started at $140 added rebid zones and ended at $150. Today I added the 4* level for a third re-bid at $155 with no luck. Can you give me advice on what I should be bidding. We really want the resort level. Thanks! Link to comment
bbbb
Rates on HOTWIRE don't look very high for your dates. I would stay between $130 and $150 for a while. Link to comment
thereuare
I'm actually seeing hotel direct rates between $375-$425 making your current bids well under half of prevailing rates, which does not give a high probability of success. I would be bidding as high as $165 at this point in time. If you let us know if you want to bid 4* or Resort going forward, and the maximum bid you decide, we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. bogey1978
I would like to stay at the resort level with a max bid of 165. Thanks Link to comment
thereuare
At the Resort level you have TWO re-bid zones.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select Resort Kaanapali-Lahaina...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $150, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect Resort Kaanapali-Lahaina and re-bidz zone2...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $165Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. bogey1978
I've bid about 5 times with the suggested above bidding and no luck. How long should I bid with this price range or do you think the price is unrealistic. Thanks! Link to comment
bbbb
I think sooner or later you will get something in the ranges you have been given. It all comes down to how long you want to wait to secure your rooms. Myself I would have something booked as a backup that can be canceled and keep bidding the way you have been. I would also watch HOTWIRE each day to see if rates have dropped. Link to comment
thereuare
I'm actually seeing hotel direct rates between $375-$425 making your current bids well under half of prevailing rates, which does not give a high probability of success. At current rates i think you may ultimately need to bid higher for a Resort class property, but it's too early to raise your bid, imo.Rates are still a bit beyond your current bidding and i sense you're getting a bit frustrated. I'd only bid twice a week at this point to keep the frustration level down, and as suggested above make a fully refundable back-up reservation, as that will not only lower the anxiety level, but also protect you from rates rising further from here. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. bogey1978
Hi. On hotwire there is a hotel for $212/night for my above dates with the following specs: resort, beachfront, smoke free, fitness, restaraunt, business, laundry self service, hs internet, golf nearby, tennis nearby, spa services and childrens activity. Recommended in %95 of hotwire reviews. Can you please help ID. Thanks :) Link to comment
thereuare
Is this in the Kaanapali zone? Is there also a Pool icon?If so, the above matches previous reports for the Sheraton so that would be my best guess for this one. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help.
