If anyone who has additional information on how Priceline works in the area of detecting and responding to another request from the same party, could you please let me know? Based on past bids, we thought $45 would be accepted for 4* Indianapolis (Downtown), though was rejected. Later, our bid of $55 was also rejected, though this time was followed by a "one time" special offer of $66 if booked RIGHT THEN. We booked at this rate, though I feel it knew we were the same party so I believe knew it was me again, and upped the price). Well, just a hunch. Any additional information you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Yes we used the PRICELINE link. Thanks!!

Rates are date specific, so you might not be able to replicate the same price as another user. I'm not sure why you thought $45 would be the 'right' price for this stay as it usually take more than this to win a 4* in the Downtown zone ($50-$65 is more typical). Your $45 bid wasn't enough to win a room for this nite, nor was your $55 bid, but the $66 'suggestion' is what we refer to as a counter offer and is explained in further detail here: Priceline Suggests Price to Pay.
