jrice
I'm going to Erie on Friday 7/22. However, for last few days I attempted the hotel booking on 2.5* but I'm unable to get anything. There is no rebid zone for Erie, PA.My budget is with maximum $75 plus $16.5 feeApparently only Springhill Suite Erie is available for 2.5*Price for 7/22 check-in on 7/12 is US$169, but now they say "standard rate" is not available.Tried on 7/12, person A, $66 - suggests to add $20 for $86Tried on 7/12, person B, $68 - suggests to add $20 for $88Tried on 7/13, person A, $70 - suggests to add $20 for $90Tried on 7/13, person B, $72 - suggests to add $20 for $92Tried on 7/14, person A, $74 - suggests to add $20 for $94Tried on 7/14, person B, $76 - suggests to add $20 for $96Next cheapest one with same rating is US$119 walk-in rate at Wingate by Wyndham.(Hotwire gives $105 on this one, but I can get 500 airline miles if I go for walk-in rate, which is comparable).I do not want to go for 2* because it would be microtel.Am I running out of luck? Should I wait for a few days and try again at lower rate?or should I spend a bit more to get the hotel? Link to comment

With your next best option $105 you need to decide if $20+ savings is worth locking down this hotel deal now vs. hoping for lower rates in the next week, with the understanding that it's also possible that rates jump at the last minute, leaving you to pay even more. There is often much less competition in rural and smaller hotel markets and discounts are often not as deep compared to larger cities. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help.
