mcgivey
From the forums, it looks like this would most likely be a Fairfield Inn or Holiday Inn, which we are fine with. We need to stay in this area, and there aren't any higher rated hotels. We are staying for 2 nights with 2 rooms.I used your link and tried $52/nt/room...but that was rejected. What would you suggest our bid increments be?Thanks for your help! Link to comment
mcgivey
Just another note...we are happy to use either PRICELINE or HOTWIRE...but it doesn't look like hotwire has any nameless deals in this area.Again, I appreciate your help! Link to comment
thereuare
What is the best available rate at the properties above? Givn these alternatives what would be your maximum bid for this stay? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. mcgivey
Best published rate I found was 115 a night. I was hoping for under 70 / night / room, but I am not sure how reasonable that is. Link to comment
thereuare
If your maximum bid is $70 i'd increase by $3 increments as this will get you to your maximum bid in less then a week, still plenty of time to make alternate plans, or adjust your bidding accordingly, if you continue to be rejected.Where are you finding the $115/nite rate? Is it cancelable? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. mcgivey
Sorry...you are correct...the $115 is not correct. The Fairfield is $135 and the Holiday Inn is $144. Let me also correct that my max bid is not $70...more like $120. I am just hoping to get around $70 since these are both only 2 star. Can you please suggest a strategy? Link to comment
mcgivey
On Holiday Inn's direct site they have it listed at $127/nt. Link to comment
thereuare
I'd increase each bid by $4-$5 every 24 hours... you have some time, but also no re-bid zones, and (personally) i'd prefer to get this take care of and wouldn't worry about squeezing the last $4 out of the stay. In a rural area such as this, with not a lot of hotels, bidding can be difficult as there is little competition and the hotels tend not to discount as deeply as their city counterparts (where the market is more competitive)Good luck! thereuare
Congratulations on your success! While a bit more than you perhaps would have preferred, this looks like a nice deal vs. a conventionally booked room and hopefully you're pleased with the results.Thank you for sharing your win and using the PRICELINE links on the board to begin your bidding.Enjoy your stay.
