stefan1812
We're 4 persons and need 2 rooms at the same hotel in NYC from the 8th November to 16th November! We would like to stay at a 3.5* to 4* Hotel! We would also like a central location, I think we would take everything from Midtown West to the Downtown - Financial District area! If there are nice 3* Hotels in these areas we would also consider them! What price should we expect for this date and what's the best bidding strategy?THANKS!!! Link to comment

AaronJB
Please provide the amenities that were showing with the Philly Embassy Suites Hotwire listing and confirm the star rating that the Sheraton Indianapolis was won at... ... you can still view these by going to HOTWIRE and clicking the MY ACCOUNT link near the top right of their home page (and thru the MY ACCOUNT link at the top right of the PRICELINE page for the Sheraton star rating).Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. thereuare
Currently you're probably looking at ~$200 for a hotel for these dates... is this within the budget you were expecting? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. stefan1812
We have no clear cut budget, as we have already booked our flights we therefore need the two rooms for this date! I guess 200 $ would be okay though the cheaper the better! Is there a possibility that it gets less expensive if we wait or should we start bidding now?And which area in NYC has the best success for winning our bid? Thanks! Link to comment
thereuare
Is there a possibility that it gets less expensive if we wait or should we start bidding now? It's possible... but its also possible that rates go even higher while you continue to wait and hope for lower rates. See the related 'Bid Early or Late' in our PRICELINE FAQ.And which area in NYC has the best success for winning our bid?Did you want to try for a 4* first up to your bidding limit OR is your goal the least expensive 3.5* or better for this stay? Let us know as this will determine which zone(s) are likely best. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. stefan1812
Our goal is probably the least expensive 3.5* or better for this stay. We would like to spend no more than 200 $, though our absolut limit is around 220 $ per room/night and our desired price would be around 180 $, but I don't know if this is possible for this date! thereuare
At the 3.5* level, ESB, MSG, MTW, and TS are generally all acceptable. However, the following zones may/may not want to be added based upon the user's preferences:MTE - some hotels can be up to a 15 minute walk t the subway, is this acceptable?CPS - has the Hudson Hotel which has a good location but very small rooms (~150 sq. ft.) and might not be the most comfortable/welcoming place to come home to at the end of the day, especially for a week long stayDowntown - often cheaper then midtown, but less convenient IF most of your plans will be taking place around midtown. Generally a 20+ minute subway ride to midtown.Let us know if the first group of four zones is acceptable, and if any/all of the next three zones are acceptable (or if there are any other zones you wanted to include), and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow.Any other questions feel free to ask and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. stefan1812
Ok thank you we will try ESB, MSG, MTW, and TS and if we don't find something we'll later also add Downtown. So what would be the best strategy? Thanks! Link to comment

stefan1812
We have now bid up to 200 $ for ESB, MSG, MTW and TS, unfortunately with no success! Should we continue bidding 200 $ for a few days/weeks or do we need to raise the price? Thanks Link to comment
thereuare
HOTWIRE has a 3.5* in the Chelsea-MSG zone for $218/nite with Restaurant, Fitness, Internet, Business... this is a 3* on PRICELINE, but the HOTWIRE reviews are pretty good (85% recommendation) and a Tripadvisor 4.0/5.0. These amenities are common for NYC so i'm not certain, but it would appear the Doubletree Chelsea would be a likely candidate and my best guess. Would your friends have any interest in this one? (more so buying into the TA rating and HOTWIRE recommendation than the guess that the actual hotel is the Doubletree)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. stefan1812
Ok thank you! Yes they would be interested in this hotel, but they still want to try on priceline at least till the end of the month, as they think that it should be possible to get a cheaper hotel for 200 $ on priceline! They'll use this Hotwire Hotel as a backup hotel and hope that the price stays the same! Link to comment
thereuare
Keep us updated on their progress and let us know if they have success or look to change the current approach. However, keep in mind that the HOTWIRE hotel is necessary a good 'back-up' as it could disappear, or the price could go up, at any time. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. stefan1812
My friends decided to add MTE to their zones and immediatly won the 3.5* Hilton Manhattan East for 175$/night!They are very satisfied with the outcome! THANK you very much! Link to comment
thereuare
Congratulations on their success! This looks like a pretty good rate for this very expensive time of year. As rates in NYC didn't drop as expected for the slow summer season, it will be interesting to see where rates are during the high-season.Thank you for passing the win along to the board. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Hope they enjoy their stay and have a great time in NYC.
