kleinstagecomp
We will be staying in Vegas 7/3 - 7/6 and would like to stay at either 1)Mandalay Bay, 2)Monte Carlo, 3)Mirage, or 4)Flamingo. I've seen these on Kayak, etc for 1)$163, 2)$94, 3)$129, and 4)$94 a night respectively. Are all/any of the mentioned resorts featured on Priceline/Hotwire? What's the best way to get a deal on 1 of these 4 resorts using PL or HW? I've noticed the prices slowly creeping up last few days, should we wait until a few days before to get a better price? It seems the dates we are looking at are not busy as I see only a small number of very small conventions going on during this time. Replies/advise appreciated Link to comment
petrel800
There are no guarantees w/ Priceline or Hotwire. From the best I can tell, Hotwire is not listing any of those hotels for your dates. I happen to be working on a Vegas trip myself and looked at your dates. If you run a search on Hotwire and narrow it down to the N Strip and S Strip for your dates, I'm seeing possible matches for Wynn, Venetian, Palazzo, Trump, TI, PH Towers and Caesars in the 4 star and up range. Then again, stars change as do amenities, so it could still be a match for a different hotel.Priceline will be a crap shoot depending on your bid strategy. You better aquaint yourself with the possible outcomes before bidding, there are some hotels you may not want on either end of the strip, and some are off strip. If you have to have one of those hotels, you should probably book directly with them.Hope that helps, also as a new member you might want to read the stickys to better understand how everything works. thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding! You can't bid on a specific hotel when using PRICELINE, you have to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star level (or higher) that you choose. With HOTWIRE you can often take an educated guess as to what is being offered based upon the amenities associated with the property, but it's still a 'best guess' and no guarantees you will receive the hotel you're hoping for. As well, HOTWIRE only shows one hotel at each star level per zone, so there is a chance the hotel you're hoping for isn't the one which is offered for your particular dates. Here is another thread for you to take a look at, as it explains the similarities, and differences between PRICELINE and HOTWIRE: I've Never Used Priceline or HotwireLet us know any additional questions you have and/or how you'd like to proceed and we'll try to advise further. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. kleinstagecomp
Just did a 4* Las Vegas Strip Vicinity South and got PH Towers Westgate for 7/3 - 7/6 for $65/night on Priceline. PH does not charge a resort fee, so that's a bonus. Found the same thing on Travelocity for $119/night. Not bad at all. Link to comment
