zipruana
I am looking for the one night, 4 star downtown and there does not seem to be anything here or on HOTWIRE. Might more rooms be added as we get closer to the date? Could there be more in the 3.5 star properties? (I prefer 4*!!!) Give up on the downtown area? Link to comment
AaronJB
Milwaukee doesn't have a ton of hotels and occasionally the hotels can get jammed up if there's the state fair or Summerfest or something along those lines. Brookfield is definitely an alternative outside the city; further out, there is the ritzy Delafield hotel, which appears at times on HOTWIRE.Additionally, a couple of recommendations if you are driving between Chicago and Milwaukee:1. The Brat Stop (http://www.bratstop.com/)2. Mars Cheese Castle (http://www.marscheese.com/)3. Premium Outlet (http://www.premiumoutlets.com/outlets/outlet.asp?id=90)All of three of these are actually quite close to each other.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. zipruana
Thanks for that, yeh 4.5 star "Delafield boutique hotel" IS being offered on HOTWIRE, it looks fun but also appears to be VERY far from Milwaukee. Any idea how inconveniently far it actually is? Link to comment
AaronJB
I'd say it's about 30-35 minutes outside of Milwaukee. Brookfield would be much closer, but I'd thought I'd mention Delafield due to the Delafield as a rather unique boutique-style property.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. zipruana
I will certainly stay at "Delafield" in the future, it is a must, but, to deal with the impossible Milwaukee downtown hotel situation for June 28th created by Summerfest , I just grabbed a Best Western Quiet House & Suites at 10330 N. Port Washington Road in Mequon, through the hotel itself for $91 a night. It has been a long time since I did THAT. It will all be great. Thanks for your help. Link to comment

Thanks for bringing that to my attention. Often when i can't get a hotel and it gets near to my travel date, I fall to panic mode and start doing all kinds of irrational things :) . Link to comment
AaronJB
I haven't been there in quite a long while, but Cedarburg, which is a few minutes North of Mequon, is a cute/quaint town to browse around. Port Washington, which is further North and along the lake, is nice as well although not as quaint as Cedarburg. Forbes named Cedarburg one of America's prettiest towns.Enjoy your stay. zipruana
Thanks for your suggestion AaronJB, it was an excellent one. I went to Cedarburg because you said to and the place was AWESOME. I spent the whole day biking around ( on a rented bike) , met great people, there is an HUGE outdoor pool with watersides, great shops, fantastic restauraunts and a unique small town vibe that is hard to explain. it is a place I would go back to.
