Thespian
This property is already on the board's Hotwire list, but the only amenities showing when I bought it were Complimentary Breakfast and High Speed Internet. Room rate was $53 + $11.98 taxes & fees = $64.98 all in. Rate on Holiday Inn's website for this date is currently $89 nonrefundable, $99 unrestricted -- and that's for one double bed. (Add $20 for two doubles, $30 for one king -- I hope we can get an upgrade.)This is one of the closest hotels to Lake Compounce amusement park. It's in the middle of Connecticut, just off I-84, so it's convenient to most other attractions too.I might have tried to beat this rate on Priceline, but they were only showing 2* and 1* properties available, and I was trying to avoid the Days Inn.Used the HOTWIRE link from BetterBidding for this purchase and several searches leading up to it. Thespian
Well, not only did we get an upgrade, it was to a room with a king bed, sleeper sofa and whirlpool tub. The mattress could have been firmer, and there was a very faint gym-socks-and-disinfectant odor in the room, but after a few minutes it wasn't really noticeable. For a weekend getaway when we didn't plan to spend a lot of time in the room, it was fine. Link to comment
