Sweede
Hi!Me and two fellow Swedes are coming to Vegas for about two weeks in september. I have looked around a bit on this fourm, and i have som questions. The first and biggest issue we have, are that we are probably going to be 3 people, and most rooms are made for two. Does anyone have any experience from booking via hotwire and priceline for three people? When I search for a room with 3 guests I still get a lot of hits on hotwire. How far in advance should we book? As europeans we have another issue to add to the equation: the dollar isn't very expensive right now, so we are thinking about booking real soon. I have never booked via priceline before. Generally, how low can you go?We are, as I said, staying for two weeks, september 20 to october 3. We are looking for at least a 3,5* hotel, and we are willing to put up to 120-130 dollars a night. What do you recommend for us to do? Book now or wait? Hotwire or priceline? I have been checking out tropicana, and it looks nice! Seems to be pretty hard to find a deal on priceline thoug, because Luxor is in the same area and class, and we would prefer not to stay there. Made this search on hotwire: 09/20/11 to 10/03/11, three persons, and found a hotel, is this Tropicana?Las Vegas strip, south area94 $ a nightAmenities:ResortCasinoFitnessPoolsRestaurantBusiness centerGolf nearbyThank you very much in advance! thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding! Please start by reading your messages. Most Vegas hotels, depending upon occupancy levels, have no problem accommodating triple occupancy, but the 'problem' is that many have started to charge for more than double occupancy (and the fees can get hefty... up to $30/per person per nite over double occupancy) which is why you may likely see rates jump substantially when you search for 3adults (vs. 2adults)Two weeks is a long time, is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option... perhaps staying at a nicer hotel on the strip for the Sun-Thur nites and then moving to a lower star rated hotels and/or off strip for the weekend nites?I think your first objective would be to confirm exactly how many of you are committed to this trip (sounds like three but possibly two??) as that will then determine if you're looking at potentially higher then standard double occupancy charges, which as per above, can make a sizable difference in your total cost in Vegas. For help with the HOTWIRE property above you'll need to let us know the star rating. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Sweede
Hi, thanks for your answear.Yes, splitting is definitly an option for us. We are going to be three people, we were hoping for a fourth guy, but it doesn't seem like it will happen. Do you have any idea about how they solve the problem with 3 persons? Fold out, or extra bed or something else? The hotel i referred to in the first post is a 3,5 * hotel, on the south area of the strip. Might it be Tropicana? It sounds like my guess on when to make the reservation is as good as anyone elses, so we are probably going to start making reservations the next week. //Daniel Link to comment
AaronJB
Overall, rates are trending higher this year and are up in varying degrees year/over/year versus last year. If traffic continues, rates could stay around these levels or head higher. If traffic starts to cool off and go below expectations, rates may start to cool off as well. However, there's no way to know and waiting is a gamble that can either pay off if rates drop or go the other way if rates suddenly head higher. In terms of the HOTWIRE listing, that amenity set has been previously seen with the Tropicana, so that would be my guess. In terms of HOTWIRE, if you are searching for 3, you should be ensured of bedding for the party (2 beds or 1 + sofa or 1 + rollaway). I'm seeing $102 (+$25 extra person fee per night if searching for 3 people) for the Tropicana for these dates. The Friday/Saturday nights are substantially higher - I definitely think the idea of switching hotels during the stay (as noted above) would be a very good one, given the variation in rates.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches.Let us know how you'd like to proceed.
