double you
Hi all,I've been having a lot of trouble finding a 3* hotel under $85 in the Downtown North area for the dates - most likely because that's the same time HotDocs Conference and Festival is taking place in the city - does anyone have experience with booking a room during events like this when price gouging is most likely to take place? How much more should I expect to bid? Will I have more success splitting my bid into two parts (I don't mind changing hotels once if necessary).Any advice would be great. Thanks! Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding!Remember that hotels use the opaque suppliers to sell excess inventory... rooms they might not otherwise be able to sell on their own. With strong demand for these dates comes higher prices, and as hotels can likely sell many/most hotels on their own, they may not be willing to give PRICELINE or HOTWIRE 'opaque' inventory at a deep discount... or any inventory they do give might not be discounted very much. What is the best rate you're able to find at an acceptable hotel thru conventional booking channels? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. double you
Thanks for the quick reply. I was able to find the Delta Chelsea a 3 1/2 * on Expedia for $165 CAD a night - Hotwire doesn't even seem to offer a 3 Star hotel for the dates I selected. Hotwire's 4* hotel runs at $167USD in the Downtown West area. Link to comment
AaronJB
What would be your desired max budget per night?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. Link to comment
double you
I wouldn't pay more than 100 per night with Priceline Link to comment
thereuare
Based upon current prices i'm doubtful that your budget will be enough for a 3* or better, but you can/should give it a try (it costs nothing to bid :) )If that is rejected, is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
