FLL Traveler
Was actually bidding on 3* and ended up getting this property. I hope it is ok - as reviews are mixed.I used the site's PRICELINE link for the bid. Link to comment
yellowdog
Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using our PRICELINE link to begin your bidding :) Let's hope the hotel is better than the reviews. I always take the TA reviews with a grain of salt. And keep in mind with TA reviews that many of those people paid full price, which is often significantly more, and may have different expectations at those price points. And for some reason is the TA people eager to complain over ridiculous things. Enjoy your stay.Yellowdog. Link to comment
Cuppaco
I've stayed at that property multiple times and it is a very nice property. Its an odd location in a business plaza, but views are nice and the self-parking is free.I don't think the other reviews do this hotel justice. The location is beautiful and the staff was very attentive. We stayed in a king on the ninth floor overlooking the lake w/ a beautiful view of the Atlanta. One of the reasons this is my favorite hotel in Atlanta is the location (near Perimeter Mall, close to 285 & 400) and the parking. Self-parking (in their well lit and security monitored lot) is FREE - vs. $28 downtown or $12 a night at the W Perimeter. I stayed two nights for my husband's 40th birthday (in Nov 2009), and booked through Hotwire and paid $52 a night (+ tax & Hotwire fees). Some of the reviews, make this place sound like high end roach motel, ITS NOT! The hotel's main areas are very nice. However, the rooms are getting worn (not terribly so), and are in need of some rejuvenation (scuffs on walls, wear on carpet). I've stayed in almost all of the 4 Star hotels in Atlanta, and the rooms are not the caliper of the Intercontinental in Buckhead (4.5 Star) or the Marriott Marquis downtown (4 Star). I think right now it is a 3.5, and with a little renovation to the rooms a 4 star for sure. However, I did receive 4 star service from the staff!!!I do want to comment on several reviews I read complaining about the same thing:1) Price of internet. The charges are about the same as any other business/corporate hotel. You might be able to get free wifi at a 2.5 star hotel, but the hotels that cater to business travelers (w/ expense accounts) do charge. I don't think this is really anything "out of the ordinary" regarding the Westin chain or other 4 Star hotels. So, if you want free internet stay at a Holiday Inn.2) "I didn't get a [specific type of room/bed]". If you paid through Hotwire/Priceline you cannot guarantee the size bed you will receive. Its on the agreement that no one reads when they book. All hotels which deal with these pre-paid 3rd party bargain sites do things the same way. You can call after you book and request a specific bed type, but that's all it is a request. They may or may not be able to honor it. So, if you HAVE TO HAVE a specific bed type, pay the extra $ and book directly with the hotel. Link to comment
