1trav3l
I am having trouble booking 2 rooms in downtown Philly for 4/1/11-4/3/11. My hockey team is playing in a regional tournament there. Last year I bid and won the Courtyard by Marriott which worked out perfect 3*, I believe I won the bid at $68 a night (2 rooms). This year I am having a difficult time bidding on 2 rooms. I prefer a 3* hotel as the locations are the best where as 3.5* are a little scattered and 4* parking is outrageous. Either way for the past 3 days I have submitted multiple bids, beginning with 4* at $68, knowing I have no chance but worth a free bid (I was offered a counterprice at $89 for a 4 star but I dont want to spend that much). I then went down to 3* and bid at $71 and was denied again. I even tried 2.5* at $72 and was denied. If I bid at 2* and 1.5* in downtown Philly only, the minimum star hotel I will actually receive is 3* correct? I am hoping for Courtyard by Marriott, Doubletree or Holiday Inn Historic District. Any advice? When does Priceline.com change their "Best Deal" location? It has been Philly Intl Airport for the past couple of days now. Link to comment

I wouldn't put to much faith in the "Best Deal" location.I have tried Hotwire.com, rates are fairly high. I usually have better luck with priceline.com. I'll try again today. Any answer on 1*, 2* and 2.5* hotels in downtown Philly? Would I essentially be bidding on a 3* hotel if I select the lower stars? Link to comment

I'm not sure i understand how you mean? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Yellowdog.Sorry, I'll try to explain better. Under the Priceline Hotel list there are no 1.5*, 2* or 2.5* hotels in downtown Philly. So if I do click on for instance 2* hotel and submit an offer am I essentially bidding on a 3* hotel or higher? I am just asking because if I get denied a 3* instead of logging out I'd like to increase my chances by increase the $ amount and adding 2* into the bid in hopes that I would get a 3* hotel or higher. yellowdog
No! The list is NOT a complete list of all hotels that Priceline offers in this area, it is ONLY a compilation of hotels that have already been reported on this forum. So don't bid on lower rated hotels unless you're willing to stay there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Yellowdog. 1trav3l
Denied again, 3* at $74. I have never had this difficult of a time on Priceline. 4* counter at $89 but I declined. Link to comment

1trav3l
Decided to book the Holiday Inn Historic District 3* for $86 a night on LASTMINUTETRAVEL.COM, I was a little skeptical about the site but decided to book it because Holiday Inn Historic District was my first choice due to its' proximity to bars, clubs and restaurants, easy on and off I-95 and cheapest hotel parking in Philly. Thanks for the advice! Link to comment
