canadianjovigirl
Hi all............I have used priceline to bid on hotel stays for just a night in various US cities, but was wondering what the chances are of getting a decent hotel for a 6 night stay in Vegas in March. We are travelling March 2-8 and were looking at Treasure Island, Venetian, Bellagio as possible choices........these were running about $215 and up per night on various websites for that time frame. If i was to choose strip north on priceline what are the other options i could end up with and what would be a reasonable price??Any help is greatly appreciated.........Thanks Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding! You can see the hotels reported to the board within each zone and star level in the Priceline Hotel List (be sure to read the comments at the to of the hotel list too)If you let us know your expected budget for this stay (per nite before taxes and fees) we'll be able to suggest if you're in the right ballpark and/or a strategy to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. canadianjovigirl
I am not sure what the price range is on these sites so dont know what to expect, I do know i can find them on other travel sites for $210 and up...........Would $150 be to high or to low?? Also when you are bidding that is the price before all the taxes and fees right??? Just want to be sure i am comparing prices correctly........... Link to comment
thereuare
Correct, the bid price is before fees and taxes. On the 'review page' (where PRICELINE asks you to confirm the parameters of your bid) they will show you how much the total will be should your bid be accepted.I think you can be successful for a 5* hotel in the North Strip zone for $150 or less. If you're ready to give it a try...At the 5* level in Las Vegas you have ELEVEN re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 5* Strip North...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $133, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $138, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $143, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145I'd begin with the above. Any questions feel free to ask (especially regarding re-bidding if you're unsure)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. canadianjovigirl
I am not sure if i am understanding the rebidding section but will read it again and take some notes to help along the way. Also wondering if i am wanting north or south strip??? On hot Wire there is a 5 star south strip hotel and a 5 star north strip hotel for $155 and $152/night................those seem to be the only 5* coming up there so does priceline offer more 5*'s??? Link to comment
thereuare
PRICELINE and HOTWIRE are two separate companies and each use a different universe of hotels... as well, the star ratings for the same hotel can differ from one service to the other. You can see the hotels reported to the board in each zone in the Priceline Hotel List... likewise there is an equivalent Hotwire Hotel List.HOTWIRE will only show one hotel at each star level in each zone (the hotel with the lowest price is the one offered), so it's not unusual that you're only seeing one 5* hotel offered on HOTWIRE in the Strip South zone and one 5* hotel offered in the Strip North zone. Feel free to confirm your re-bid zones with the board, or if you read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and are still confused, just post back and we'll break it down further for you step-by-step.Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... and your searches too! canadianjovigirl
Hi everyone............Still tossing up using Priceline or Hotwire for our Vegas stay in March. We are going March 2-8th and looking for a 5* place. Hotwire has one 95% recommended with Casinio, fitness, pool, restaurant, business center, high speed internet, golf nearby and tennis nearby. It does say there is a resort fee, but not how much..........Any guesses on what this could be??? Not sure we have a prefereence of hotel at this time just wanting to save some money.......... canadianjovigirl
Sorry, thought because i was now asking about hotwire i had to have it in the right forum. I double checked and the only additional amenities listed there besides the ones i stated is spa services.............does that help or narrow it down any further?? Link to comment
yellowdog
canadianjovigirlBest guess would be Wynn. Please use the site's HOTWIRE link, and let us know how it goes or if you need any additional help with your stay.Yellowdog. Link to comment
canadianjovigirl
I am now looking to book something as prices seem to be rising since it is Nascar weekend and all. Still confused about hotwire vs priceline. I can get deals on Expedia including flights, but wondering if i can still save money this way. Any suggestions on how to price things out more accurately as Expedia includes the taxes etc in the final price and priceline and hotwire does not...........Hotwire is giving me a 5* Strip South Area for $128night or 5* Strip North Area for $154night........... AaronJB
PRICELINE shows you the total including taxes and fees during the check-out process, before you book to finalize. If you click "continue" on a HOTWIRE listing, it shows the total w/taxes and fees on the next page (the start of the check-out process.)Please use the site's HOTWIRE, PRICELINE or Expedia links to start your purchases and searches. canadianjovigirl
Thank You!!So Hotwire is offering a 4* Strip South for $128/night smoke free, fitness, pool, restaurant, spa. (No Casino??) or a 5* Strip North for $154/night with Casino, fitness, pool, restaurant, business center, internet, golf nearby, tennis nearby and spa. Any ideas on what these would be??Would like to try priceline but not sure i am understanding the rebidding with the other areas...........can someone explain it further please as i am terrified to add another area and get a hotel in part of Vegas we dont want to be. Thanks Link to comment

canadianjovigirl
Yep have read it numerous times and am confused as the only locations i could find to check on priceline for a 5* that did not have a 5* hotel was west of the strip, east of the strip, freemont/downtown, north las vegas, henderson and boulder strip, but above someone is mentioning more zones so not sure if i am checking correctly so not bidding until i have all this confirmed and understand it better. thereuare
Start with the following...1) Use the PRICELINE search box on the upper right of this page, enter Las Vegas and your dates, and click "GO".2) List each zone that is offered in this region. 3) Next to each zone list the highest star rating offered in the zone. The way to determine the highest tar rating offered n the zone is by selecting the first zone i the list, then scrolling down to see the highest star rating selectable (ie- not greyed out). NEXT UNcheck the selected zone, place a checkmark in the next zone, and repeat the process for each zone in the region. Each time you take note of the highest star rating in the zone, make sure that only ONE zone is selected above.4) post your findings and we'll take it from thereIf you don't follow the above just post back and we'll break it down further. canadianjovigirl
Thank you............I went thru the list and the only areas showing 5* properties are Las Vegas Strip North, Las Vegas Strip Vicinity N Condo, and LV Strip Vicinity South. So if i add one of the other areas while bidding on a 5* there is NO way i would end up staying in another are other than the Strip North if i dont include the condo area or the strip south right?Do you know what strip south is considered?? My thinking is anything south of the Vdara maybe??? Also wanting to confirm that the Vdara has no casino correct?? What 5* are in strip south??Thanks so much for all your detailed help : )Using the links and hoping to find a deal Link to comment
