theduffster
Multiple attempts were made to get a room in Pittsburgh at the above dates. First tried at fairly low prices in the Downtown area at 4 stars (by adding in other areas since downtown has the only 4 star hotels), but even at $150 my bid was rejected. Tried going down to 3 stars (downtown's lowest, according to the list on this site), with no luck, also up to $150/night. Decided to add in the University Center area and tried bidding at $100/night for a 3 star to start. I got the message saying I could get it at $120/night, but decided to try again at $110 and it was accepted. :)Used the PRICELINE link each day I tried, and I kept trying over the course of 4 or 5 days since I kept getting fed up and putting it off. :) Here are the details:Holiday Inn Pittsburgh University Center100 Lytton AvenuePittsburgh, PA 15213412-682-6200 Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $110.00 (USD)Number of Rooms: 1Number of Nights: 4Room Subtotal: $440.00 (USD)Taxes and Fees: $76.08 (USD)Total Room Cost: $516.08 (USD) Link to comment
