bond316
I'm looking to go from any airport in NYC to GRU from 12/19 to 12/30 OR 12/20 to 1/2/2011What is the best way to search for the best deal?If the difference between the two dates is less than $300 then I would prefer 12/20 to 1/2/2011Thanks. thereuare
What is the best rate you're able to find thru conventional booking methods? What is the breakdown of base rate and fees/taxes?How much of a discount would you need to make an opaque purchase (not choosing flight times and/or layover city and length) worthwhile? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. bond316
Right now I just did a kayak search12/19 - 12/30: best price $1374 (Total Airfare: $1,153; Airfare taxes and fees: $220.69)12/20 - 1/2: best price $1834 (Total Airfare: $1524; Airfare taxes and fees: $310.44)I don't think an opaque purchase would be worth it because some of these layovers are over 14 hours... thereuare
From PRICELINE's help section it appears the longest layover to South America would be 5 hours (with the average being 2.3 hours):Destination region Avg.* connection times booked by priceline (hours) Longest* connection times booked by priceline(hours)Africa 3.9 8Asia 3.0 8Australia 2.5 8Canada 1.5 4Caribbean 1.5 4Central/South America 2.3 5Europe 2.3 6Mexico 2.3 5Middle East 3.4 7South Africa 4.5 12Using the information in this Priceline Airfare Re-Bidding thread you can get an almost unlimited number of re-bid opportunities. I'd start at about half price and increase your bids by $10-$25 (more at the lower end of the range and less as you approach your maximum bid)Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. Romelle
If you haven't done it already, it might be worth your time to also check directly on the airline web sites. Once in a while they have an unadvertised sale there. There are links to quite a few of the airlines under the Support/Travel Links tab just above.RomelleOops, I just checked the United link and it isn't working just now. If you want to check with them - www.ual.com or www.united.com Link to comment
