Priceline Hotel: 4* Chicago (Millennium Park-Loop-Grant Park) Hyatt Regency

Using the PRICELINE link, and seeing another bidder's success at $70 for the same dates and location, I began bidding a couple of days ago for a 3.5* or better in either this area, N. Michigan Avenue, or Greater Chicago at $65. I was rejected but there are three free rebidding zones at this level, so I tried $68, $70, and $72 with no luck. Today I thought I'd try again at $70, bidding only for the Loop area and 4* and was accepted. So I'm kind of confused why my earlier bid at the same or higher price, in a wider area and with more star levels, was rejected. But all's well that ends well.

Hotel cost: $70

Taxes and fees: $18.30

Total: $88.30

The Loop zone is often cheaper then the NMA zone, so your acceptance at a price below what you had previously bid in the NMA zone is not surprising (and there just aren't enough 4* rated hotels in the Greater Chicago area to have consistent inventory at this star rating in that zone)
