First off, my apologies admins for posting this in the Hotwire section earlier!! I couldn't figure out how to delete it...

Hi, I've been bidding casually for a few weeks on different districts and realized I should probably book a room already. I'm looking for a room Sept. 17-20 in Copley District, 3*. Have bid up to $90 in Copley for 3* and been rejected. On the wins calendar, someone got a 3* in Copley for $65 on the 17th, so I was a bit surprised when I got turned down for $90. Does anyone know if there is something going on that weekend I'm not aware of, or have any bidding advice since I'm obviously failing?

I've bid. $65-$90, in increments of $5, 3* Copley.

Any advice or insight on that weekend and bidding would be brilliant, thanks!

One thing is that you you're bidding for the 17-20 and not 17th alone like the other bidder. Rates are dates specific so you can't really compare them.

Rates are on the higher side for your dates. What would be your max budget/night before tax/fee for a 3* in the Copley zone? Are you willing to stay in a diffrent zone?

Thank you for your help! Since it's my boyfriend's first time in Boston I'm looking to stay rather central, so Quincy would work and then I'm not sure...maybe the waterfront area? We're seeing a sox game so Copley had been convenient. Good to know it's just an expensive weekend, I'll try bidding up again this evening and see where I get. I'm not sure how much I'm willing to spend quite yet...not much more than $100/$110 for a 3* though I don't think.

I know splitting up my stay for such a short period might be ridiculous, but I don't have any problem changing hotel locations if Friday ends up being significantly less expensive than my other two nights (if, for example I did get a price similar to $65 for Friday alone). Is this tactic used much, or do the fees make it less worthwhile?

Thanks for your help!

Unfortunately, prices for these dates look pretty consistent across the stay, so I'm not sure that splitting the stay will be too effective for these dates. Unfortunately, I think $110 is not going to be realistic for these dates - I'm guessing $115-130 may be required for a 3* in the main areas of Boston.

Wonder of wonder, miracle of miracles! I finally got a room in Copley, 3.5 star Marriott Copley for 110 (105 plus $5 bonus) for Sept. 17-20. Here is my bidding history:

Bidding History:

Copley, Sept. 17-20, 3*

Increased $5 amounts over time starting at $65...

Recently:

Sunday: $85 + $5 bonus, rejected

Sunday: $90+$5 bonus, added fenway, rejected

Sunday: $95+$5 bonus, added fenway and north cambridge, rejected

Monday: $100+$5 bonus, rejected

Monday: $105+$5 bonus, added fenway, ACCEPTED Copley upgraded to Marriott 3.5*.

Final accepted total: Copley District, Marriot Copley 3.5*, $110 a night, total $374.40 with taxes and fees. I used my $5/night bonus in there (I actually paid $105 a night) . Very happy with this win, looks like others have gotten this rate as well. I'm assuming the Courtyard must not have had rooms available or else I would have gotten one of them before I got this. Maybe not though. Good luck to anyone else on that weekend, it's been a headache! Please let me know if I need to post anything else to go on the calendar. Thanks for all your help!

Aww...wish I got your rate, it would have saved me a little bit of money for my 4 days. Darn. I got 130 total each night.
