I've been doing research on these particular dates and thanks to Hotwire for tipping me on the lower rates prior to Thanksgiving. I also had a fallback plan just in case I couldn't get that one day (a night at a 3.5* hotel). Also based on the history of bids posted here on BetterBidding, I was able to pretty much guess the hotel and the rate. :)

I checked out combinations of different dates that I wanted on HOTWIRE and found the best hotwire rates for a 4* MTE to be $189 on 11/24 and $209 per for 11/25 till 11/29. When I selected 11/24 to 11/29, the rates were $219 which didn't make sense.

Best I can see for my dates is a 3* on HOTWIRE for $192(The Manhattan at Times Square ) :) . Good to know what the difference in price is between the two sites

Rates vary quite a bit by dates; the few days just after and especially the days right before (as the days right after are "Day After Thanksgiving" shopping) Thanksgiving in Chicago is traditionally a less expensive time and NYC is generally similar. Otherwise, NYC is busy-to-extremely busy during the Fall and into the Winter.
