Thanks guys for the quick replies.

My next destinations to book are Venice and Rome. Unsure whether to use Priceline on these locations or just wait and use a last minute website as they dont seem to offer great rates on Priceline unless you seem to be pretty lucky, but will post back on this forum if I start bidding on them!

Why not bid on them at a "great rate"? You really never know. The only cost to you is a little bit of time and effort if it doesn't work.

And meanwhile, www.venere.com sometimes has good rates. More importantly, on a hotel-specific basis some of the properties are cancelable.
