Priceline Hotel: 4* hotels wait till last week?

Do you think if you wait till the 2weeks before you need hotel the price and quality of the place favor you and you end up with a nicer property than you would have? I ususally seem to get the Hilton when bidding online but I wait longer and usually start my bidding higher at around 99.00. I don't see too many of the really nice 4* being posted.

Okay got my place in San Antonio Priceline hotel nailed down but I need a night in Austin on 8/10/10. Do you know of anything big happening on this date. This being a college town I do not want to wait if there is big happenings. 4* preferred or because it is just one night could be a 3.5* Want it close to the action or walking distance.

I don't know if there is anything major happening for these dates, but I wouldn't expect anything school related given it's the summer (although Ann Arbor's Art Fair takes place during the summer) and rates look pretty 'normal'.

If you're plans are firm, why not begin some lowball bidding now?

Be aware that there is always the possibility of getting the AT&T Hotel and Conference Center, which is quite a distance from the Sixth Street action. The Hyatt is also a distance away, being across the river over the Bat Bridge...Congress Street Bridge. Good luck.
