Priceline Hotel: 3* Las Vegas (Henderson) Holiday Inn East Henderson

I am looking to travel to Vegas on 12/30-1/4. I know room rates are jacked up on the first 3 nights, but pretty much back down to earth for the 2nd & 3rd. I am thinking about bidding on a room for the first 3 nights, and then just booking for the last two with a hotel or either submitting a separate bid for these dates.

I am hoping to get a room somewhere along the strip and would like for it to be at an actual known casino hotel. Prefer 4 star but 3.5 is fine just dont want to sell myself short on my bid. Definitely looking to spend under $100 per night if possible. Also would prefer a hotel with no resort fees, but obviously thats the risk you take when bidding.

Any ideas or advice??

If your goal is to save money should you split your stay 12/30-1/1 and 1/1-1/4.

I don't belive that you can get a 3.5* or 4* under $100 12/30-1/1. You might hit somethink like 3* Stratosphere in the North zone.

I think you can do well with 1/1-1/4 so you shouldn't book directly since your're willing to change hotel. But you must raise your budgett for the first leg if you want to go 3.5* or 4*.

Let us know your thoughts and we'll go from there.

Well, I have tried the bidding process a few times already. I edited my trip for 12/31 - 1/5. I am going to do a bid for 12/31-1/2. Reasons being I know I can get good cheap rates almost anywhere on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, which is when everyone returns back to reality, as does the hotel rates. Doing my research off of Priceline and the info of this site, I have determined my best opportunity seems to lie in the 3.5* range in the South Strip, which would be the Monte Carlo and Flamingo and any other higher rated hotel (which all of them are nice in my book).

I tried my first bid and tried to get greedy and went with 95 per night, which got rejected. I have since done a combination of various vicinity adds. The obvious one being North Strip, which has no 3.5 and only has nicer 4*s, so if i win there it would almost be a bonus. I also added Henderson and Nellis, which dont have anything higher than a 3* and upped my bid all the way to 121 per night and have still not had any success. I am right now done with adding options, so I can't bid anymore today. Is it unrealistic to think I can get a room under $130 per night for new years eve and day??

Flamingo on these dates avgs $228. Monte Carlo avgs $250. NYNY is a 4* and avgs $200.

Most PRICELINE Name Your Prices Bids seem to be in the 50% off neighborhood. So are they trying to hold off on most bids for this time of year since rooms will be going at a premium as the date nears? I am trying to get it done now 5 months out in the hopes I can score a better deal, but if its not going to be much of a discount to bid, I may just stay at a cheaper hotel near the airport for these nights and taxi it into the strip.

Curious your thoughts and any advice.

First of all. Let's use this thread for your 12/31-1/2 stay. Please start a new topic for your second leg.

You're doing the right thing with bidding this early. You dates are and has allways been expensive in LV. I'm sorry to say that i don't think you have a chance to score 4* at $130. But just try, it's free and fun :) I think you need to lower the rating and go for the South zone if not trying for 3* in the North zone.

and upped my bid all the way to 121 per night and have still not had any success.
For what star rating did you bid?

The problem is that the hotels knows that they will get heavily booked for NYE. So it's difficult to score a nice deal here.

i started my bids with 3.5*. This narrowed down the list of hotel "minimums" that i wanted to monte carlo and flamingo, and obv also includes anything higher than a 4*. I was mostly trying to avoid Hooters, which is a 3* and has the lowest customer ratings at all sites.

but mostly kinda hoping to swing the flamingo out of this since it has no resort fee

if i dont get a 3.5* under 165 for this deal, then i will probably start over and roll the dice on a 3* and start in the north strip

As demand (and rates) increase, it's not uncommon to see the discount percent decrease... based upon the demand the hotel is likely to sell most/many of their rooms on their own, so why offer a deep discount thru the opaque suppliers?

Since rates are actually high for the Friday and Saturday nite and then drop beginning Sunday nite, why not split your stay by bidding for 12/31-1/2 and 1/2-1/6? As well, you can book a cancellable back-up at New York New York (or Monte Carlo or Flamingo) for the first two nites in order to protect yourself from rates rising as you get closer to your check-in date, and also gives you a "rate to beat" via PRICELINE.

You can also choose to bid for the 1/2-1/6 leg of your stay now OR wait until you get the first two nites secured, the latter giving you flexibility to get the same hotel as the first two nites should a deal be available for each leg of your trip. If you choose to wait i would also book a back-up for these nites as well (nothing to lose as long as reservation is fully cancellabe without penalty) and use TWO SEPARATE reservations even if you book back-ups at the same hotel so that you don't have a rate revaluation if you cancel part of a longer stay.

jmujake,

We don't wish to promote and sites here that have the potential to be shady and this one raises a red flag in my book.

If you'd like a definitive answer call Harrahs and ask if they're familiar with this company if they're a agent or reseller of their rooms... that will be a better answer than anyone here can give you.

Thank you for sharing your result with the board!

Also thanx for the addition for this new property to the BetterBidding Priceline Hotel List

This is why following is written on the top of the list "DO NOT USE THIS LIST to determine what areas to add when attempting to bid again within the 24 hour window". And there's no 4* bidding for Henderson.

Enjoy your stay.
