atlbkk03
For a trip to NYC, I have heard that staying in the hotels on NJ side can save a ton of money. My questions are:1. Which part of NJ should I look for in Priceline?2. What is the best (and affordable) way to commute between the hotel and NYC3. Is it safe to travel at night? Thanks a lot,-Ben Link to comment

thereuare
Hopefully the previous link answered your questions, but if there are any more on the commuting aspect than feel free to ask.As far as bidding, this is what i would do...Select 3* Jersey City and bid $48.Any questions let us know.Good Luck and please update us as to how the above works out... if it fails we will update with a revised strategy. atlbkk03
Thanks... since I have some time before the trip, I may first try the 3* hotels with a bit lower price (some people got Hyatt for as low as $37). Will keep you posted.Anyway, how do I travel between Newark airport and the hotel, say Hyatt? Link to comment
thereuare
We have not seen Jersey City wins at $37 for over a month, i believe they have raised their minimum acceptance level. atlbkk03
You may be right! I tried with $41 for Mar 11-14 and got rejected. An offer is made that if I increased my bid to $53, I would be able to rebid right away, but I did not take it. I will try again in 2 days. How do I go to the hotel in Jersey City from Newark airport? thereuare
Taxi from the airport to the Hyatt will run about $35-$40, but i can give you a local cab company that you can call once you land (and have your luggage) that will take you for $25 + tip.Otherwise follow the instructions in the Airport to Hotel thread for NYC, but take the PATH train to the Exchange Place station instead of into NYC. atlbkk03
I remember seeing someone's post about a cheaper parking lot near Hyatt in Jersey City, but I could no longer find it. Can you suggest, please? Link to comment
