Shakerbird
We will be driving through Sat. June 12, looking for an inexpensive hotel with free parking and within walking distance to the train line, so we can get to Water Tower Place. Any suggestions on which properties would meet out needs? We are open to staying further out like the airport area or Arlington Heights. Thanks. Link to comment
AaronJB
Good morning. Which direction are you driving in from/towards? (if you are coming from the South and heading towards the North, you could stay in the North and be ahead of the game for the drive the next day, for example.)Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. Shakerbird
We will be driving in from the south, headed north to Wisconsin. But, we plan to go to the American Girl store which is in Water Tower Place. Ideally, we would take the train downtown so we wouldn't have to hassle with trying to find parking. Parking at Millenium Park is $24 per 24 hours, and I was trying to avoid that expense if possible. Thanks. Link to comment
AaronJB
When searching for 2 adults/2 children in Northbrook, IL for this date, I see a 2.5* for $39 w/Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Complimentary Breakfast, Smoke Free, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Laundry in Northbrook. This would likely be the Holiday Inn Express Lincolnshire/Deerfield, which is a few minutes drive West of the Lake Cook Road Metra station (metrarail.com) and a very nice area. Plus, free breakfast. The Long Grove Confectionery Candy Store and historic Long Grove village are about a 10-15 minute drive North, too. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases. Shakerbird
What about Schaumburg or Arlington Heights, do either of these cities have train access? Link to comment
AaronJB
They do, although the train ride is further out that far NW than it is from the Northbrook area. You can find the Metra system map at metrarail.com.When searching for Arlington Heights, there is a 3.5* for $46 w/Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Interent, Business, Golf in the Elk Grove Village/Arlington Heights area, which has not yet been reported to the board, but may be the Sheraton Suites w/a new smoke-free icon. If this was the Sheraton Suites, there is a Metra station a little under 3 mi away. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. Link to comment
Shakerbird
Thanks, I am now re-thinking our plan and think it might involve less time, to just pay to park somewhere near the AG store which eliminates the need for the train. Any other recommendations for an inexpensive hotel that we can drive to afterwards that includes free parking. Ideally it would be somewhere near I-90 ? Link to comment
AaronJB
If you are looking for a hotel near I-90, the Arlington Heights listing above would be within a reasonable distance of I-90 (and a 3.5* under $50 is certainly a nice deal.)Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. Shakerbird
Again thanks for all the time to reply. I am planning to book the 3 star, 100 % recommeneded ITASCA area hotel since it includes breakfast for $39 - I think it's the Hyatt Place Itaca, but I cant find any properties in that area that are 100% recommended? "see details" says over 100 reviews and tripadvisor 4/5 stars. Before I click purchase, do you agree that this is most likely the Hyatt? Link to comment
thereuare
The 100% recommended info is based upon HOTWIRE user feedback, so it is unrelated to, and you won't find it, at the Tripadvior website. What are the full lsit of amenities that HOTWIRE associates with this Itasca property? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
