This is my first time using PRICELINE. I am trying for a 4* in Brussels city centre from 7/5/2010 - 7/8/2010

My bids have been as follows

$45 - rejected

$50 - rejected

$55 - rejected

$60 - rejected

They never come back with a counter offer. Many posts on here have gotten accepted at $45 for a similar time frame.

I am very confused.

Please help!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Although a 'similar timeframe' rates can vary greatly from one day to the next... rates for your dates are currently higher then when we've seen $45 bids accepted. Hotel direct rates for your nites above start at $168/nite, making your highest bid so far only about 1/3 of prevailing rates.

What is your maximum bid for this stay?

Your dates are mid-week, which is more difficult to find a cheap room in Brussels. If there is any kind of European Union function going on, you can forget about finding a decent room under $200/night. It is summer though, so a large-scale function is unlikely.

If you are willing to switch hotels into your stay, try splitting the dates.
