PlantationCanes
I have seen some extremely helpful posts in researching for hotels in Chicago and hope I can get some help. I do not know much about Chicago, I have been to Chicago a few times and have gone to Hugo frog's and one of the famous deep dish pizza places and have enjoyed them and am open to any other suggestions. I have stayed downtown and at nice hotels but there seems to be a lot of choice at hotwire. I am picking my son up from college and will be doing a general tour of the city in two days so a central location is important, but I will have a rental car. Thanks for help and suggestions. I see the following: 4.5* Mag Mile area $165.00 95% recommend . Pet friendly Smoke-free rooms Fitness center Restaurant(s) Business center Self-service laundry Internet access 4.5* Mag Mile area $149 85% recommend Pet friendly Indoor pool(s) Smoke-free rooms Fitness center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business center Internet access 4.0* Downtown $130 95% recommend Free Internet, Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Restaurant(s), Business center 4.0* Downtown $145 85% recommend Pet friendly Indoor pool(s) Smoke-free rooms Fitness center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business center Self-service laundry Internet access 4.5* Downtown $225 90% recommend Boutique hotel Indoor pool(s) Fitness center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business center Self-service laundry Internet access Tennis nearby Link to comment
AaronJB
Welcome to Betterbidding. :) I believe there are more amenities then what you have posted above as HOT.WIRE has a new interface that does not show the complete set of amenities unless you click thru a few extra links. If you repeat your search using our Bidding.Helper.com tool... use the HOTWIRE EASY VIEW tab and then click the GREEN BUTTON next to this listing, do you see more amenities then what you have listed above? Please include accessible amenities, as well. Additionally, if you have to drive, I'd park and leave the car. Driving downtown is a hassle and parking is extremely expensive. Suburban hotels are cheaper and offer free parking in most cases, but it becomes a 30-45 minute train ride downtown. Thank you for using the board's HOT.WIRE or PRICE.LINE links to start your purchases and searches. Link to comment
PlantationCanes
I do have to drive. We are driving first to South Bend and then to Chicago and overnight. I will follow your advice and update the amenities. Link to comment
PlantationCanes
Here is the info updated but I did not see the % rating on simple view so I am guessing that these match my earlier post. I seem to have lost a 4.5 star in mag mile area. I had two earlier and I only see one under 200.00 now. 4.0* Mag Mile area water tower $167.00 95% recommend . AaronJB
4.5* Mag Mile-RN. This: Restaurant, Pool, Indoor Pool, Fitness, Smoke Free, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Blind Accessible, Deaf Accessible, Travel Accessible, Room Accessible, Bathroom Accessible, Handicapped Parking, Roll-in Shower, Pet Friendly-- Would be a likely match for the Intercontinental. HOWEVER: I'm seeing a cheaper 4.5* in the Mag Mile-RN zone w/Restaurant, Fitness, Smoke Free, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Laundry, Pet Friendly. This would likely be the Westin River North and I'd rather recommend that property for less vs the Intercontinental. 4* Mag Mile-WT $167. Likely Public Hotel. --------------- In the Downtown-MP-GP area, I'm seeing: 4.5* $197: Boutique, Restaurant, Pool, Indoor Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Laundry, Tennis, Spa, Blind Accessible, Deaf Accessible, Travel Accessible, Room Accessible, Bathroom Accessible, Roll-in Shower.-- This would likely be the Swiss. 4* $126 Restaurant, Pool, Indoor Pool, Fitness, Smoke Free, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Laundry, Blind Accessible, Deaf Accessible, Travel Accessible, Room Accessible, Bathroom Accessible, Handicapped Parking, Roll-in Shower, Pet Friendly--- Likely Hilton Towers 4* $104 Restaurant, Fitness, Smoke Free, Free Internet, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Travel Accessible, Room Accessible, Bathroom Accessible, Wheelchair Accessible, Roll-in Shower--- Likely Hyatt on Wacker Please keep us updated on what you decide and let us know if you have additional questions. You may see slightly different prices (+/-) on Hot.wire than I do. PlantationCanes
The 4.5 star boutique hotel you say may be the swiss, is that correct? I just looked up the Swissotel and the description says it is a 661 room hotel. Link to comment
AaronJB
When searching for 2 adults for these dates, I'm seeing a 4.5* in the MP-Downtown-GP one w/Boutique, Restaurant, Pool, Indoor Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Laundry, Tennis, Spa, Blind Accessible, Deaf Accessible, Travel Accessible, Room Accessible, Bathroom Accessible, Roll-in Shower for $204, up since AM. If you are seeing this amenity set, as well, this amenity set has been seen with the Swiss previously, so that would be my guess. I'm not sure why the number of rooms is a factor, as this is not listed on HOTWIRE listings. PlantationCanes
I see our issue communicating! I have been searching 3 adults (me, wife and son). I usually don't have such issues identifying hotels, so many in Chicago seem similar. I would prefer two queens but it seems most rooms have two doubles. Prices don't seem too discounted either. The 4.5 seems the best deal. BTW I don't mind spending if the hotel is great. I intend on reserving this morning. 4.5* 128.00 Mag mile, RN FULL AMENITIES: Pet friendly, Indoor pool(s), Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Internet access, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking, Roll-in shower 4* 141.00 Downtown FULL AMENITIES: Pet friendly, Indoor pool(s), Smoke-free rooms, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking, Roll-in shower 4.5* 183.00 Downtown FULL AMENITIES: Free Internet, Pet friendly, Indoor pool(s), Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access, Wheelchair accessible Let me know if any other hotels jump at you. I am always concerned using priceline when traveling with 3. Link to comment
PlantationCanes
128.00 for a 4.5* was cheaper than all other hotels by a good amount. I was hoping for the other 4.5 stars but Inter-Continental is a great brand. Thanks for the help. Link to comment
