joan2121
I want to stay at a 4 or 5 star hotel, and wondered if I wait until a few days before our stay if I would get a better deal. Any help? This is my first time using this... Link to comment
AaronJB
Welcome to Betterbidding. :)Waiting until towards the last moment absolutely no guarantee. Additionally, given that this is a busy season in NYC, you could easily have rates head higher closer to the date/s of travel. What would be your desired budget per night for this stay, desired star rating and which zones would be acceptable? Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. Link to comment
joan2121
Thanks for the reply. I am looking around Times Square, hoping for $250 range. I saw a winning bid for $178 for TS right around our travel time. Guess that was bought earlier. I could expand the area- we are going to a concert at Madison Square Garden. Not sure what the hotels are like in that area. We love walking, and don't mind taking subways, so distance is not a problem. I'm afraid to drop down to a three star because I know one of those is the POD and they have very small rooms, but suppose we could hack it for 2 nights to save some $$. Bottom line is I better do it now, right? Link to comment
joan2121
I wonder if I could've gotten this cheaper...I started with 4.5 stars at $230, add nearby areas, no wins. Then I dropped to 4 stars, TS only and forgot to drop the price! Anyway, I think $230 is pretty good for this time of year. Link to comment
joninvb
Same hotel right now is $253/night on Priceline.Express so you got a pretty good deal :) Lowest room price on the Marriott website right now is $499/night. Based upon this, you saved 54% :) Link to comment
thereuare
Congratulations on your success! Glad to see you received a great deal for this stay and are pleased with the results. The elevator system in this building is quite amazing when you think of the complexity of it. The elevators themselves have no buttons, you enter your floor on a keyboard near the elevator bank and the system directs you to which elevator to use... all the while taking into consideration who is going up (and to what floors) as well as guests who are on upper floors and trying to get down... assigning passengers in the most efficient way possible.
