esfancool
Hello from Norway!I am taking my girlfriend to NYC(her first time) Checking in Sunday Nov.9 - Checking out Friday Nov. 14. Would like a nice hotel in midtown area(Walking distance to Times Square/Madison Square Garden). Total hotel budget for the stay should not exceed $1200, ergo $240 a night after taxes. Hoping to receive some good suggestions, have never used HOTWIRE before. Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding! I assume no problem to use PRICELINE or PRICELINE EXPRESS? There is a 4* hotel available in the MTE zone for $175/nite ($1060 all-in): Restaurant Business Center ... my guess for this property would be the Roosevelt. Far from my favorite hotel in the city, but it's well within budget and would be an easy walk to Times Square as well as close to Grand Central Terminal for easy subway access. Just over budget at $208/nite ($1256 all-in) there is a 4* hotel in the MTW zone: Pets Allowed Restaurant Business Center ... best guess here would be the Shoreham. Typically very small rooms here but an excellent location. There is also a 4* in Chelsea for $207/nite ($1250 all-in) with: Restaurant Business Center ... guess here would be the Wyndham Garden Hotel Manhattan, Chelsea West. This property has the beset reviews of all of the properties above, is a bit further from Times Square (15-20 minutes walk... 5 minute walk to Madison Square Garden) but if that is too far the N and R subway lines are right there and will have you to either in less than 5 minutes) On HOTWIRE i am seeing: 3.5* Times Square for $185/nite with: Free Internet Smoke Free Fitness Business Hi-Speed Internet Travel Accessible Room Accessible ... best guess here would be The Row NYC. If you do decide to go with this one (or any HOTWIRE offer) please first click this HOTWIRE link and if you are not on the US version of their site please change the drop down menu on the top right to UNITED STATES, close the browser, and then use the EASY VIEW tab at our BiddingHelper.com tool to conduct your search. You should then land on the US version of the site and you can change the currency to whatever value you would like, but please stay on the US version of their site to complete your purchase. (ie- you can change the currency but leave the country version at United States) Your thoughts on the options above? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. Let us know what you decide and how it goes OR if we can be of help with any other offers or questions above the city. esfancool
Thank you for the answer! Think I will go for a Priceline/Hotwire option, and will report it here whenever i buy it. For my dates, what do you think is best; Waiting as close to check in date as possible or buying a room now? Found two intersting deals at hotwire now, hope somebody can help me ID them: 3*Area: Midtown Central areaOriginal price: $298Hotwire price: $174Amenities: Smoke Free Rooms, Business Center, Internet access, KitchenetteAccessibility: Accessible for the deaf, accessible path of travel, in-room accessibility, accessible bathroom, Roll-in shower.Trip Advisor Rating: 4 out of 5.0Hotwire customer reviews: 85 % recommended (191 total review) with 4.0 overall satisfaction 3,5* Area: Times Square - Theatre District areaOriginal Price: $299Hotwire Price: $176Amenities: Free Internet, Smoke free rooms, Fitness Center, Business CenterAccessibility: Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibilityTrip Advisor Rating: N/AHotwire customer reviews: 80% recommended (169 total review) with 4.0 overall satisfaction (Tried to search these on biddinghelper.com but could'nt find a exact match) Link to comment
AaronJB
There is no way to know if rates will come down closer to your stay. Rates do not always come down closer to the dates - if traffic comes in above expectations, rates can easily go higher. This is also traditionally a busy period in the city. 3* MTC - likely the Salisbury.3.5* TS - likely the Row. Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. Link to comment
