Hot.wire listed a 5-star hotel in Midtown Central. Quoted original price $1042, now $356. Amenities Fitness Center/Business Center/Internet Access/Spa

 

I checked Expe.dia and the only 5-star listing that matches the quoted original price is The Plaza

The "retail price" is not the price of the underlying hotel, as HOTWIRE wants listings to remain opaque - it's an average price for hotels of that star rating in the zone for your dates.

 

When I click on the listing, I'm seeing:
