chloe_82
Hello, I've used this forum in the past and it has proved to be very helpful. I want to plan a trip to Hollywood beach/ Ft Lauderdale area for the 4th of July weekend. We have stayed before in the Westin Diplomat Resort and Spa and I absolutly love that hotel. From what I've read it appears that I have a better chance booking this specific hotel with Hotline and not Priceline, is this correct?. Last time I used this forum for a hotel in a different city, I bid on Priceline and was very happy with the price. Basically, I need a hotel on the beach! from 7/3 - 7/5 for 2 people (1 room) for $150 max. I would prefer a 4 star hotel or better. Any suggestions are welcomed. Thank you! Link to comment
yellowdog
Yes, HOTWIRE is a safer bet when trying to target a specific property. I looked at your dates and I don't see the Diplomat listed on HOTWIRE. I believe it's the Crown Plaza that is listed for Hollywood Beach. Would you like to try PRICELINE for the cheapest 4* hotel in both zones? Let us know how you want to proceed and we'll go from there. Please use the PRICELINE and hot.wire links on the board to begin your purchases and searches. Yellowdog. Link to comment
chloe_82
I really like the Westin Diplomat. I wonder if I wait couple of days would it show again on Hotwire? Even though, I'm also not opposed of trying a different hotel as long as it's on the beach. I know some of the hotels advertise being on the beach when there's an actual street separating them from it. What are my options if I try booking through Priceline? Thanks for your help! chloe_82
After checking the priceline express deals it appears that there's a 4 1/2 star hotel for $173. However, when I look at the priceline's hotel list I don't see a 4 1/2 star hotel for Ft Lauderdale beach. Am I missing something? Link to comment

chloe_82
Hi, Sorry for the late response. So I'm looking at a $184 hotel with PRICELINE EXPRESS for Ft. Lauderdale for 7/3/ - 7/5 for a 4 1/2 star hotel. It gives me the option to pick a a studio ocean front room for $184 or an ocean view suite (2 beds) for $194 a night. I don't know how to see the other amenities with PRICELINE. Now with Hot.wire I see a 4 1/2 start hotel for $186 per night with the following amenities: Free Internet Resort Near Beach Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Tennis Nearby It says its 95% recommended. Is this the Westin Diplomat? It says the last person got the Atlantic Resort and Spa. I appreciate your help! Link to comment
AaronJB
Please list the amenities showing with the Price.line Express listing and we would be happy to take a look and try to ID the listing. In terms of the Hot.wire listing: I believe there are more amenities then what you have posted above as HOT.WIRE has a new interface that does not show the complete set of amenities unless you click thru a few extra links. If you repeat your search using our Bidding.Helper.com tool... use the HOTWIRE EASY VIEW tab and then click the GREEN BUTTON next to this listing, do you see more amenities then what you have listed above?Thank you for using the board's HOT.WIRE or PRICE.LINE links to start your purchases and searches. chloe_82
Here are the results from Hotwire easy view, however it now says $182: FULL AMENITIES: Free Internet, Resort, Near Beach, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, Internet access, Tennis Nearby, Spa Services, Accessible for the blind, Accessible for the deaf, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Handicapped parking, Roll-in shower How can view the amenities from priceline express? Thanks! Link to comment
AaronJB
With Price.line Express, there should be icons (such as business, fitness, pet friendly, etc) in each listing box. Please confirm the zone of the Hot.wire listing, as well - thanks. Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. Link to comment
chloe_82
With PRICELINE Express, there should be icons (such as business, fitness, pet friendly, etc) in each listing box. I understand that it should show the amenities, but none are listed.. The only thing it mentions is a bed choice, that's it. If you enter 7/3 - 7/5 ft lauderdale, 2 people, 1 room you will find it for $184. It's rated 9 out of 10. It is the only 4 1/2 star hotel. It says that it's guests favorite. When I go to the regular hotwire webpage it shows the same hotel for $185 a night. When I click on the BiddingHelper.com website that you mentioned and then on the hotwire easy tab it shows Ft Lauderdale Beach hotel, 4 1/2 star for $182 with these amenitiesFULL AMENITIES: Free Internet, Resort, Near Beach, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, Internet access, Tennis Nearby, Spa Services, Accessible for the blind, Accessible for the deaf, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Handicapped parking, Roll-in shower What am I doing wrong? It should be very simple. Link to comment
604girly
I dont have any input on the hotels. But I do notice from experience the Hotwire prices change depending on how many times you clicked it, which computer, from what link, are you logged in, etc.Just make sure its the same amenities before you make the purchase. chloe_82
I've noticed that too. I prefer to at least have an idea of the name of the hotel before I book. It says 4 1/2 star Fort Lauderdale Beach area. When I click now it lists it for $178. Hot area resort, 95% recommended, 55 % off, the last person got The Atlantic Resort and Spa. AaronJB
Usually when no amenities are showing it's difficult to really begin to narrow down what a hotel may be. However, in the case of the 4.5* beach I'd guess the Atlantic would be a likely possibility. The 4.5* HOTWIRE amenity set has not yet been ID'd/reported to the board, but I'd guess the Atlantic with a slightly different amenity set than has been seen before would be a possibility. The HOTWIRE listing has a 4.5/5 tripadvisor rating showing on the detail page, so it certainly does get fine reviews. Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. Link to comment
thereuare
I'm seeing TWO different 4.5* hotels offered on HOTWIRE, both with a 4.5/5.0 TA rating: This one for $178/nite: Free Internet Resort Near Beach Fitness Pool Restaurant Business Hi-Speed Internet Tennis Spa Blind Accessible Deaf Accessible Travel Accessible Room Accessible Bathroom Accessible Handicapped Parking Roll-in Shower --> this one may be the Atlantic Resort and Spa This one for $163/nite (one room left): Free Parking Free Internet Pool Restaurant Blind Accessible Deaf Accessible Travel Accessible Room Accessible Wheelchair Accessible Bathroom Accessible Handicapped Parking Roll-in Shower --> my guess for this one would be The Pillars Hotel Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. chloe_82
Thank you both for your help! So it appears that the 4.5 star hotel is the Atlantic Resort and Spa. I prefer to book an ocean front room since July 4th is our anniversary weekend. Apparently, Price.line gives me this option (ocean front room or ocean view suite) even though it's still a little iffy if this is in fact the Atlantic hotel. On the other hand, Hot.wire does not provide any room options. What would you suggest? I've never seen a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal that allows you to pick your room...I just don't want to end up in a so-so room in a so-so hotel. I know I'm not easy to please, I just want to make the best possible choice with these options. Thanks! Link to comment
chloe_82
Hello, I just wanted to update my post. I decided to change the location from Fort Lauderdale to South Beach. I used Price.line's bid option for this purchase. We will be staying at the Blue Moon Hotel by Marriott. The rate is $120 for 7/3/ - 7/5. I'm pleased with this option as it appears that the hotel is in the middle of everything in SoBe. Thanks! Link to comment
